Should You Go To Modeling School?

Many aspiring models have signed up for modeling classes only to discover they’ve been the victims of a scam. This is unfortunate because there are actually a number of reputable modeling schools that have successfully helped many new models sharpen their skills and approach the industry with confidence. While modeling school does not guarantee your success in the industry, it can be a helpful stepping-stone for many aspiring models who are new to the industry.

New Year, New Agency?

Do you have representation but still don’t feel like your career is taking off? Often aspiring singers, dancers, actors and models are so excited to sign with an agency, but then the experience leaves much to be desired. There are many reasons why clients are dismayed by their relationship with their agency. Perhaps they are not being sent on auditions frequently or at all. Maybe, especially if they signed with a smaller agency, they don’t feel as though they are getting the personal attention that they expected or were promised.

However, I approached the project with confidence and it turned out to be really fun, score! On top of this, I got to wear a gorgeous yellow gown with hot pink & torquoise ruffles, beautiful!

A Slice of French Life

Today we have been to a little hill-top village not far from here. It is a tiny village with one shop in the corner of a bar. We parked our car and walked up from the village hall up into the village proper entering through the La Porte des Anglais, of course.

There we had a surprise; all the village houses were decorated. In the garden of a house by the village gate was a nativity crib standing up high surrounded at its feet by straw and rabbits (real live ones) and at the back separated by a fence, a donkey. The next house had two pens outside the garden one of which contained some goats and sheep and the other a llama, I kid you not. They were the contribution, to the festivities, of a small animal park nearby.

Make Money in the Movies

Hello and welcome to my blog of Make Money in the Movies. Since you're reading my blog, you must enjoy movies very much and have a big interest in possibly being in them yourself or may know someone, a spouse, friend, relative, co-worker etc who has talked about wanting to be in them.

I myself had always seen the bigger picture in life and have always loved movies and years ago had even told a girlfriend at the time that one day she'll see me on that big screen TV that we watched for so many hours everyday. Little did I know that 12 years later I had visited a friend in which was watching his girlfriend's father's place and it had been a huge mansion. Just seeing that and never seeing anything like that in front of my face before blew my mind and amazed me. I couldn't believe the lifestyle in which some others are so lucky to live and the things they are able to own and the foods they can eat whenever they want or things they are able to buy. So, right after seeing that place that day I kept asking myself, gosh what types of careers can generate income in people's lives to be able to live those types of lifestyles and not have to worry about money or financial issues like most of the people working a regular everyday job. Then I got to thinking and had thought about the past of when I had told that girlfriend I had that one day she'd see me on the big screen and that many people in the movie business definitely live the same type of lifestyle that I had seen. So, a couple of days later I had been looking in the job ads in our local newspaper and had came accross an ad that really stood out to me and I had responded to it right away. Not knowing right then at the moment, that single phone call was my ticket and foot in the door to learning how to and actually being in two major motion pictures.

That ad in which I had responded to had been from a lady of whom has owned an acting/modeling agency for many years and she had explained to me some of what she does over the phone then had invited me to come to her office and she'd explain everything to me. Not knowing at first what to expect or if anything would ever come of it, I of course was skeptical. Once I got there and had actually seen face to face many photos of whom she had helped get into the business and what all she has done, I was simply amazed. The next thing that she talked to me about was the thing that is the main key in which you need to pursue any type of acting career. The main thing in which you or someone who's interested in the movie business will need is to find a reputable company locally in your area that caters to doing headshot photographs and you should be able to pick one main one out that is the best to use as your main headshot photograph that will be your tool in which you use to present at casting calls or send by mail to casting companies. The photo should be done as black and white and preferably 8x10 in size. If the agency or company is a professional enough company as to which they make your profile and everything that you will need to have on the backside of your headshot photograph then that would be easier than doing it on your own, although after learning myself how to do it, I am able to get my headshot photo printed at a local print shop on a laser copier whenever I like and I also have my profile printed on the backside in which you always do first. I would always get some card stock paper from the print store, then have them copy my original profile page and put that onto my card stock paper on one side first. Then, after your profile page is copied onto your card stock paper, it's time to have your headshot photograph printed on the other side of your card stock paper in which then will be the front, with your photo facing you and your profile information on the back. The main thing here is to make sure to tell the employee to have the top of your picture and the top of your profile page back to back and not one upside down from the other. If you happen to go this route, by getting an 8x10 photo done and having it in hand it will save you money and you can get it done whenever you want. If the agency that does your photo says they can do it for you be sure to find out the costs because sometimes it can be costly depending on who they are. To me, it's easy to get it done myself. If you're good with photography or know someone who is, you can even go the cheapest route and have someone take some face photos of you using a 35mm camera loaded with glossy black and white film. Then, after taking several photos, even being in different outfits/shirts pick out the one you like best and use that as your main headshot photo and take it down to your film processing store and have them get it made into an 8x10 photo. Once you get that back you will need to have the next step done so you have your profile page to get printed on the backside of your headshot copies onto card stock type paper. Remember again though to first copy your profile onto the one side of the card stock paper, then the photo afterwards. Reason being is that some copiers generate heat in which will damage your copied photo when they run your card stock through the copier a second time if you had done the photo first instead of the profile on one side first. Ok, now for the profile part of your main headshot photograph.
The information in which I am giving you is hard to come by without having to go through a lot of nonsense to get it or spend mega amounts of money to get it and not even have the exact details like I am giving to you. The template in which I call it is an actual layout of how your profile(resume) should basicly be in which will be on the backside of your headshot photo. If you have Microsoft Word or a text writing program on your computer, it will be simple. You can be a little creative but not too much. You'll want to make each category in a little bit larger font than the text below and have the categories in all capital letters and underlined. Remember that this will need to fit onto the backside of your 8x10 laser copied headshot photo. Another thing is you can experiment with a couple of your photo copies by one, trying it in full black and white copy mode and then give it a try in color mode and see what turns out and looks best. You can even have your photo zoomed in a hair, like for example have it done at 115% if you want to appear a little closer in your photo. I am going to give you the layout example of how you would need to set up your acting profile/resume. I was very lucky to get to keep this layout and personally don't know anybody that has it besides of course the people in the business that wanna charge big bucks to "get you in the movies" Once you have this done and your photos are printed nicely onto card stock paper(thicker than normal paper) and your profile is on the backside then your ready for business, you'll have the main key in hand that you will need to land yourself into any motion picture if you have the look they desire at the time! Many people say or think, "gosh I don't know how people get into the movies, it must be nice" but in reality anyone can!!! Casting directors and producers look for all types of people for different projects they are working on. Most likely, if it's not the project they're working on at the moment, they'll have another in which you may fit into what they are looking for perfectly. You don't have to be a genius or know how to really act, you just have to be able to take direction well and be prepared to be where they are filming at for several hours during they day, either if you're on camera for what they assign you for or not. I can say, once I was in the first movie, I was amazed, shocked and couldn't believe what another world it was all like. You'll feel like a king or queen if you decide to try and pursue this, just being around it all and being a part of it is the neatest thing. Most of the time they also feed you very well. Ok enough for all that, here's the template type layout for your acting profile/resume:

                              ACTOR'S NAME
(Make this the largest font and on top in the middle) Agency Logo or letter
(Put on top right of page)

PERSONAL STATS (Remember to have bold and underline and somewhat larger font)
Date of Birth:
HT/LNGTH:
WT:
HAIR:
Eyes:

FILM (Remember again, have bold and underlined. At first you may not have anything for this category but you can put what interest you have here under film)

Name of show Name of Character Production Co.
or type of Role or Director
(Not Both)

THEATRE (Bold, underlined and somewhat larger font than the font below it)

Title of Play(If applicable) Character Name Director or Theatre

EDUCATION or SPECIAL TRAINING(Underlined and bold)

Course of Education Instructors name(If known) School Name,
Location

SPECIAL SKILLS/PERSONAL INTERESTS(Underlined, bold)

This is where you get to be creative. For an adult's resume, this would be where you would include things like fluent languages, dialects, physical skills, etc., so on a child's resume you will want to include any special "abilities" in which they have.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The above is the layout format for your to be acting career.
Credits should be listed in three neat, easy to read columns or as close as you can get to that. Keep resume simple and clear.
Eliminate these words from any resume: Extra; Under-five; Stand-in; Bit; Bar Patron; Spectator; Party Guest, etc.
Agency logo(If applicable) should be printed on your resume, however, when submitting to agents, just put your address and phone information in that spot.

Once you have gotten this far, either if you prepare a headshot photo on your own or if it's through an agency, congratulations!!! You've got the main key you need and you're well on your way to learning of and hopefully becoming a part of opportunity.
As far as finding out when or where something is filming and where you will need to go to present your headshot photo/resume to in person or maybe even send one by mail, there is different things you can do. Mainly, there is many casting calls listed on the internet. If you type in the words "casting call" into your search box, a bunch of stuff should come up. Two sites you can check out for auditions and things of such is www.getgigs.com and www.beinamovie.com. That's a couple of options as to how you can search for movies and things that are filming. Once other thing that I do here in which I live is call our local film commission hotline in which has a recording posted of things that may be upcoming to be filming in the area. If you want to hear it and see how they tell about what's filming if anything is or what's going on, it's pretty interesting. These numbers are for my local area. You'll have to try and see if there's anything like that in the area in which you live. It's kinda like my backdoor secret place to find out about what's filming quick or what's coming up. They are: (602) 534-3456 and the other is (602) 771-1230. If you don't have any local numbers like that then check out the other options in which I have mentioned above. Another thing, when you do get a movie part whatever it is, if you're an extra or if you land a speaking part or something be sure to follow direction well and never freak out when you see an actor or actress you like, just be yourself and if the actor/actress wants to say hi or talk to you they will come to you believe it or not. It's not rare at all to be an extra and be seen or noticed very well by the big famous actors who are also working on the set. I've even seen some of the big shot guy celebrities who were in my first movie I got into checking out the girl extras and flirting around with them a lot. I had a similar occurance in the second film I was in with the main actress giving me looks from a distance even. But they say, don't bug them, if they come to you or start up a conversation then go for it and enjoy meeting and being around them. It's a lot of fun being around it all and after you're in your first movie, most likely you'll be craving right away to be in another so much that you can't stand it. I hope you've enjoyed my ebook and that you will be able to use my information to get you where you see yourself being. If anything, you'll have the main key that I'm sure no one else you know has or will probably ever have even that could get you into movies or things of such anytime. Oh, one more thing that was beneficial to me from the second movie I was in was remember, if you here of something filming or whatever that "The Early Bird Gets the Worm" because I was picked immediately when they got my photo/resume in the mail because I responded right away when I heard they were casting for the movie. Believe me, I was very nervous going and being in these movies since I hadn't ever been in a motion picture before but I was very relieved when I saw how organized it all is and how good they treat the people. I wish you the best of luck in your interests of wanting to be in movies and hope to see you on the big screen somewhere, if it's been an extra, a stand in or who knows maybe the main star. Thank you for reading my blog and I hope it becomes of great value in your life or in the lives of friends, relatives or the ones you love.

                                                  Make Money in the Movies
What is Paris Hilton Doing with Her Hand in Her Bikini?!

What's Paris Hilton doing in this picture? She has her hand down her bikini... is she using it as her purse? Funny picture!! It's probably old but I just found it.

Speaking of Paris Hilton, I finally saw some Simple Life shows. Is she really that dumb? I don't know if it's possible.. is Paris Hilton just acting?

I mean, Nicole Richie seems smarter than her, but not by a whole lot. They put a metal pan in the microwave. I'm not a Paris Hilton fan but that show is SO addicting trying to figure out if people can really be that stupid.

the Chaos of John Harrison

The written word is a remarkable thing. It changes your perspective on the randomness of chaos. Even failure, when written, gains a certain luster. When written, a moment becomes history. It becomes art. It becomes legend. When written, a moment lives forever. All it requires are the eyes of another to see as do your own.

Earlier today I grappled with the idea of being a model. A friend has tried to convince me for weeks to go to an open call, but I’m afraid the moment I walk in the door I would get brain dizzy from absurdity. I’m not adverse to the idea, just a good bit confused by the idea. Modeling seems to combine a lack of mortality with a lack of humanity as it lives in a world of illusions. My own experience with models: Too much coke, too many cigarettes. That’s my experience.
