Submitted by Sassys on June 7, 2007 - 10:58am. free shipping | manners | phonePW wrote a blog about what she hears people say while they are on hold...it was well written and as usual very funny. Now this is what happened to me the other day.
I was put on hold by a young lady that goes by the name Jennifer...She told me she would be right with me but that she was a tad busy...I said ok, no problem.
Paris Hilton, get some class
Submitted by angelface79 on April 24, 2007 - 3:43pm. Celebrities | Gossip | manners | models | Paris Hilton | rich and famousHey Paris, didn't your mother teach you any manners?
Sales clerks were shocked when Paris Hilton tried on swimsuits without any panties. Paris Hilton was even more shocked when they expected her to pay for them.
The bikini's were about $300 each. But to someone like Paris, that's just a drop in the bucket. National Enquirer reports that Paris apparently did not want to purchase them because they didn't fit.
Mobile Telephones Curse or Blessing?
Submitted by gellybaby on November 29, 2006 - 1:41pm. manners | mobile 'phones | modern lifeThe other day someone asked me for my mobile telephone number and seemed quite shocked when I said I didn't have a mobile. Is it so very strange not to have one? As far as I can see, apart from those who need them for safety reasons, most of the time they are a nuisance and sometimes a danger.
The people who use them sometimes seem to have lost all common sense and manners. I once heard a young woman in the middle of Victoria Coach station speaking on her mobile obviously to her bank about why they'd bounced a cheque and would not extend her overdraft, she was speaking very loudly and seemed absolutely oblivious to the fact that about twenty five people were party to her private financial affairs. Another time I was standing in the queue in my (then) local sub post-office and the woman in front of me was obviously consoling a friend who was having marital troubles. She did not even stop when she reached the counter and the post-mistress had to serve her whilst she continued her telephone conversation.
What Ever Happened To Good Manners?
Submitted by Jeanne Gibson on July 31, 2006 - 5:21pm. courtesy | manners | rudeness | writersWhen I was a child, we were taught that it was good manners to share. That meant our toys, our treats, our material possessions, and our blog space. Oops... well, maybe not that last one, but I'm sure we would have done it if such things had existed then. We were even taught that we should give other people equal time to talk when we were engaged in conversation.
Lately, I have noticed a tendency toward grabbing everything one can grab for oneself. I'm not sure whether it is greed, or wanting to be sure one gets his share of the available pie, or an insidious desire to come out the "best" or the "winner" every single time.
What are Tattoos and Where Did They Originate?
Submitted by Riju Gujral on April 4, 2006 - 12:02am. manners | mobile 'phones | modern lifeWhether they are on arms, legs, ankles or buttocks, tattoos are painted all over our bodies by injecting ink into our skin.
A needle attached to a hand-held tool injects ink into the cells of the dermis-a section of our skin that keeps tattoos from fading and stretching. The tool moves the needle up and down at a rate of several hundred vibrations per minute and penetrates the skin by about one millimeter. The ink that is left in the skin after the injection process is the tattoo.
Box clever - more tips from a serial house mover
Submitted by SharonHH on April 3, 2006 - 11:47pm. manners | mobile 'phones | modern lifeThere's a theory that bigger is better when it comes to boxes for packing your stuff. Not so. In fact, the reverse is true. You need to keep boxes small and manageable. Those boxes that reams of paper come in (you can get a few from your office) are perfect for packing books, CDs, DVDs, tapes, records (if you've still got them) and other small items. The ones with handles are best.
Check out your local shop and ask them to save the boxes that snacks and chocolates are delivered in. They'll need to be reinforced but they're a good size as well. For all the mums out there, the Pampers multipack boxes are strong and solid (and they have handles). Finally, book boxes (the smaller ones, of course) from your local bookshop. These are difficult to get hold of but when you use them you can be sure that your stuff won't fall out mid-move.
So Much Talking, So Little Being Said
