What's really going on in our Country

america | bills | Finances | freedom | inflation | usa

You know, I see things going on in our Country that really concern me. It makes me wonder how far we have really come.

Almost daily on the news, you see arrests made of sexual perverts. Disgusting, depraved people that prey on innocent children and the elderly. Not to mention the ones in between. We see gas prices that keep going up. Groceries are more expensive. Milk is expensive. Housing and electric. We are being taxed on everything, even shopping at Goodwill. It's hard for people to make it.

BloggerParty, meet inflation. Inflation, meet gold.

finance | gold | inflation | Monex

As many of us are well aware, inflation is quite nasty lately. Do you realize that precious metals like gold and silver hold their value through the bad and appreciate through the good times?

For example, even at our insanely inflated gas prices of Summer 2006, the same amount of silver that would have bought a gallon of gas back in the good old days of $.25 gallons would still buy a gallon of gas today. Pretty impressive, eh?

The high price of everything

inflation | investing | silver

I know I'm not the only one who is sick of high gas prices, obnoxious inflation, stagnant wages and our valueless US dollar. It has come to a point where it's almost a nonpartisan issue, and all kinds of liberals and conservatives (not the neo-cons though) agree that prices are too high for the average and even the above average US citizen to get a break.

This is old news though, right? We've seen double digit percentage hikes in gas prices practically overnight for a few years now (George W. Bush....ahem), and there's still no sign of it getting any better. We have become so complacent that a war can break out between Israel and Lebanon (two countries that we don't get oil from ...a large amount anyway) and the oil companies still use it as an excuse to raise prices.

1998 GASOLINE WAS 96 CENTS A GALLON...WHAT HAPPENED?

Bill Clinton | economy | gas | inflation

In 1998 we moved to Texas. Bill Clinton was president and the price of gas was 96 cents a gallon. For $10.00 I could put over 10 gallons of gas in my car which would provide a full day of shopping and some more.

Today, George W. Bush is president. You know the OIL guy? For $10.00 I can put in about 3 gallons which will hardly get me out of my neighborhood.

The 10 gallons of gas I bought in 1998 for $9.60 now costs me $28.00 and some change.
