Instant Messaging

Instant Messaging has come an awful long way since I began using it six years ago. Now, the programs that you spend hours on chatting with friends, colleagues, family and lovers no longer has to be boring.

This amazing tool that can be used to correspond with whomever, wherever, and whenever, can now be customized to different colour schemes, backgrounds, and even sounds, all to your tastes. Usually this is free, but many of the IM services want you to pay for their best emoticons.

A few days I wrote about some of my strange friends. Well, yesterday, my friend that rarely makes contact was online. I was thrilled to see him, and I can't wait to meet up with him later this year.

Today, another friend wrote me an email. The first thought in your mind should be "Why is this a big deal? How's he strange?" The religious figure he most identifies with is Alister Crowley according to an online quiz, and his girlfriend makes these incredibly lifelike dolls that she sells online. He blogged about this by saying that his girlfriend makes babies and sells them on Ebay. See?? Pretty strange. lol

Herespace, Therespace, Everywhere a Myspace

blogs | cellphone | IM | internet | messaging | MySpace

Myspace has become by far the hottest Internet location in recent memory. It is eclipsing by hundreds of times many of the traditionally more popular discussion and messaging sites and has almost engulfed entire populations of young people.

What is the attraction?

Clearly, the multiple levels of personal information the site attempts to extract from its subscribers is legion. The temptation is quite high to post risque, racy material that greatly exaggerates the personalities of the posters.

As for being a vehicle for predators to hunt the Internet for victims, Myspace.com has few peers. Already some news reports have documented how many young victims of sex crimes or other violence might have first met their attackers on Myspace.

It's time for a little caution and a little common sense.
