Homeschooling can be an expensive alternative to public schooling. But, its worth it. Right? Well, that depends. If you have extra money that you want to spend on schooling then by all means do it. Many homeschool families choose to learn the lessons that are necessary without the use of text books or worksheets. Many use the lesson plan approach of homeschooling. A lesson plan usually takes one or more weeks to complete. It encompasses all, or most, or the subjects that a normal school day covers: math, science, history, language arts, writing, and art. Using lesson plans is often more enjoyable that doing straight reading and answering questions from a textbook.

Most prepackaged homeschool curriculums, for elementary or secondary grade levels, cost in the hundreds or thousands of dollars per school year. For some families that wish to homeschool, but have limited income, this amount is prohibitive. Indeed, many formerly two-income families give up one of the incomes in order to homeschool. Frugality is necessary.

If you wish to homeschool with an organized curriculum and do not have the finances to purchase one, there is still hope. Of course, it takes a bit more time and research to put together the homeschool resources yourself, but it can be done. Free homeschool items and opportunities can satisfy your curriculum needs.

I am a big fan of homeschooling. I'm an even bigger fan of online degree programs. It's such a convienant way to get your degree at home. No more having to sit in the classrooms. You can learn on your own schedule.

For the last several months, I have been thinking alot about homeschooling. My oldest son started kindergarden this fall, and when it came time to register him, I had a big debate.

It would be wonderful to be able to teach him at home. But I'm a single parent. I have one child that is one year old. And I work from home. How would I be able to do it.

The more I looked into it, the more I realized how hard it truly would be.
