Recession? Nah, It's Just Another Duster

government | money | Recession

This is a bit of a rant, but bear with me....
Is it just me or does anyone else recognize the fact that we are indeed in a recession? We all know that prices are sky high today and they wont be coming down anytime soon, if at all.

Homeless? Bah Humbug!!

government | homeless | housing | politics

The CBS morning news carried a news item about the growing number of homeless in California. Two things caught my attention. One is that in California it is illegal to park on a public street and sleep in your car. Two, the people breaking this law are newly displaced former home owners.

A Trampled On Constitution

government | Religion

Once again the excesses of government and our insatiable need to control our neighbor’s lives and impose our morals and religious beliefs on our neighbors has reared its ugly head. Some members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or FLDS, may have violated the laws of the state of Texas. That point is conceded and has been from the start.

Today it was announced that the Federal Government plans to begin collecting DNA from every person that is arrested by a Federal Agent. Are The Laws Against Polygamy Religious Persecution?

government

Once again a religious retreat has been raided by the U.S. Government. Over 400 children taken from their family and placed in a stranger’s house.

The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is an organized religion. It has its roots in the Mormon Church. Much the same as the Episcopalian Church has its roots in the Catholic Church.

Yes...NO... Wait... Maybe

Amazing how perspective changes with age. In the mid fifties I was in the sixth grade. We all had to take a little government. My teacher for some unknown reason decided to teach us all about the freedoms we enjoy here in the United States Of America.

Ailing Homeowners Given Hospice Care - Big Business Given Cure

government

In a classic move the United States Congress is working on a bill that would address the home mortgage crises. True to the American Way the bill provides for the classic solutions. Banks, homebuilders and mortgage companies are to receive help to the tune of 25 billion. Homeowners about to lose their home’s would receive credit counseling. Additionally, 4 billion would be set aside for cities to purchase foreclosed homes and resell them.

Dear Mr. President:

government | jobs | mortgage

I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas Metroplex. The President and Vice-President both had business offices here before running for the highest office of the land. Mind you, we are not the poorest city in Texas, but here lately it’s hard to tell the difference. Our economy while not the worst is not the best as you can see. While surfing the net I happened across this listing on Craigs list. I do hope the listing person doesn’t mind me relisting it here.

There are Some REAL Idiots in this Country

government | Idiots | Iraq | money | policy | terrorists

Just when you think the people in charge in this country can't get dumber, they do.

Our leadership, the grand poohpah, the great decider decided to pour more soldiers into Iraq and nothing has changed. According to the latest reports, the United States offered Israel an unprecedented $30 billion of military aid over 10 years. It is also proposing weapons packages to Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states to help them counter growing Iranian assertiveness.

Illegal Wiretapping Is Now Legal?

congress | government | wire tapping

Did I miss something? I thought that the Democrats got pushed into a position of leadership because of all this bad stuff Bush did that was seemingly illegal or stupid. Did I just hear right that Congress has decided to extend this "illegal" wiretapping thing that Bush was doing on the sly, making it an official act?

Fear

Fear | government | politics

Yesterday, as I was desperately landscaping to make enough money for my rent (I’ve heard my landlord attacks tenants who don’t pay with rabid dogs), I came across a huge pile of rocks. These rocks were piled just so, that they were filled with nooks and crannies perfect for all kinds of vile things. I counted one snake (fortunately not a poisonous one) about three mice, and nine-hundred ninety nine billion, nine-hundred ninety nine million, nine hundred ninety nine thousand, nine hundred ninety nine spiders. There were white spiders, fat black spiders, skinny spiders, muscular spiders, fanged spiders...sickly spiders, healthy spiders, half-eaten spiders, hairy spiders and smooth spiders. There were spiders from every corner of the globe packed into this rock pile, and I had to do battle with each and every one of them.

A Thank You Is In Order!

government | Kids | war

I am known to be vehemently anti this war, but that does not make me anti american, just anti needless death and destruction.

That being said, I would like to thank the young men and women that are out there on the frontlines fighting this hopeless cause. They are dying in droves over in Iraq as well as Afghanistan, and I do believe they feel they are defending my freedoms. So thank you!

Bush Has Dictator Power?

government | president bush | Wash clothes

I'm not sure of my take on this one just yet, but the writer of the Aftermath News blog wrote this entry on a new directive that was signed on May 9th that supposedly clarifies how things will run in America during a state of catastrophe, and, at #11, does seem to give the President some pretty broad powers.
