Running on fumes - the way of the future

economy | gas prices | money

Brace yourself.

According to a news article at cnbc.com, gas prices could hit $4.00 a gallon this summer.

As if it wasn't already bad enough.

I'm really wondering how much money people are already spending on gas. I know it takes about $70 to fill the tank up on my SUV right now. That's a big chunk of change just for gas.

I Have Really Bad Gas

gas prices | gasoline | insanity | Portland

Seriously. And I don't mean the kind that comes from consuming vast quantities of beans and rice from the local tex mex place. I mean the kind that goes in your car and makes it go "vroom". What the hell is up with the skyrocketing gas prices? I swear that every day this week gas prices have risen and are now at $3.33 per gallon of regular here in Portland. WTF?

Exxon Profits Hit $39,500,000,000 Amid Daunting Gas Prices

Business | companies | corporations | earnings | gas | gas prices | money | oil | profits | wall street

Now, just like every other red blooded American, to me filling up at the pump is about as fun as paying taxes or going to the dentist. In my frustration, it would be easy for me to read newspaper headlines such as the title of this blog and blame evil corprate America. But because I am pro-capitalism and believe in questioning what is presented to me by the media, I needed a better explaination. What I found after much research is actually quite contrary to what 99% of Americans believe: corporations don't make as much profits as we might think.

BAD GUYS AND GOOD GUYS | celebrations | dick grayson | gas prices | The End of Education

I am still trying to figure out this whole minivan vs. SUV thing. Right now I am driving a 2000 Chevy Suburban. It holds all six of us comfortably, and we can even transport a couple extra people if we need to. My husband drives a 1997 Ford Taurus stationwagon. It only holds five people comfortably, but we have squished three of us in the front seat when absolutely necessary. Both of our vehicles have over 130,000 miles each.

Work At Home.....

bullion | chair | gas prices | gold bars | Office furniture | silver | table | work at home

I have a day job but I also work at home. I need to organize my office space a little bit since I will be expanding my work at home enterprises. I do want to buy a new chair and I was first thinking of an antique chair and then I got to thinking of the history of furniture....and how it all parallels the progress of culture.

Western furniture originates from four sources: Egyptian, Asian(Persian and Chinese), Greek, and Gothic. Egyptian furniture dates back 6,000 years and is known for inlays of gold and ivory and also for carved supports representing animal forms. Orientals furniture is known for carving and inlays on ebony and teak. The Greeks prefered the low couch, tripod, and chairs, with curved outlines.

Stupid

bush | gas prices | nation

Since when has Bush ever cared about the rest of the people in this nation? Suddenly he is concerned with the people and the gas prices in the nation.

It's either he figured out that he's not very well liked in the nation, or he finally got his head out from deep within his ass and realized that this is a problem.

Economy and Job Woes

debt | gas prices | job searching

Downsizing seems to be running rampant in companies these days. Companies don’t want to pay higher wages because it cuts into their profit but they want to charge a high amount for their product. They can’t understand why consumers are going to products made overseas. But with lower wages being offered how can people afford to buy American made anymore? I do not like WalMart because they get basically all their products overseas to make their prices so attractive but I buy from them on some items because they are so cheap and I can’t get them anywhere else that low.
