Foxy Brown was paid $75,000 in 2005 for an autobiography called “Broken Silence” that was suppose to be delivered by February of 2006. A message board I belong to had a suggestion posted to it that I find disturbing. It seems that Oprah has suggested that if all women come together, we could vote in the first female President. That thought scares the hell out of me for several reasons.

First, are we now limiting ourselves to voting based on the anatomy between our legs? The earliest feminists fought so that I could vote. They did not fight so that I could only vote for women, nor was that their hope. Later feminists fought so that I could be considered "equal" to a man. They wanted things such as equal pay for an equal day's work at an equal job. Or the ability to join the military. Or even the ability to decide whether I want to stay home with the kids or get a job. Even that suggestion makes me uncomfortable in most cases because it's not like most men get to decide if they want to stay home and raise the kids. Hell, if some irresponsible woman decides she wants to have kids, "forgets" to take her birth control, and lies to him about it, it's not like he can even decide whether he wants kids or not. So sure, it's all for the greater good, but it's not exactly equality.
