Spring Equinox is coming!

children | fashion modeling | friendship. memoirs | Milan | pagan | spring

It is almost spring! I love spring. The warm weather, the flowers, the animals, gardening, everything! And being a Pagan Spring has special meaning to me.

Ostara for Children
For many Pagans Ostara, or the Spring Equinox, is a time of renewal and rebirth. This Sabbat is a time of joy and blessings to be celebrated. It is a time when the sun moves into the sign of Aries, the first sign of the Zodiac, and new begginings bloom all around us.

My Obsession With ANTM is Over.

America's Next Top Model | ANTM | fashion modeling | reality television

I used to watch America's Next Top Model like a junkie. I loved the fact that it was a trainwreck and completely NOT like what the real world of fashion modeling is all about. It was fun to make fun of, although I did always like to see what market the girls would end up in, be it Paris, London Or Capetown, so that I could reminisce about my own time there (although I did not end up in Capetown...but went everywhere else). And I do think that some of the girls on the show had potential to work internationally....although those weren't always the ones that won.

I'm an Expecting Model!

Expecting Models | fashion modeling | maternity fashion | pregnancy

Good news! I just got a contract with Expecting Models in New York! So hopefully, this pregnancy will not leave me broke like the last one did. They seem really excited to work with me and are just a really nice group of ladies, professional and proactive. So far I am really impressed with their level of communication and work ethic. Of course, as with all modeling, there is no promise that I will get any work out of this.

Model or Mommy?

blogging | fashion modeling | motherhood

HA! So I was just thinking how funny it is that I intended this blog to be about my modeling experiences with a dash of my parenting stories added to it.....and lo & behold, it has turned into a complete and total "I am a basket case mom" blog with a sprinkling of modeling stories thrown in for good measure.

Maybe I need to just start a completely seperate blog where I can write down all of my modeling stories......and believe me there are many. It would probably draw a different audience, I could better tips & advice to the newbies.....hmmmm......but maybe that is getting a little over my head since I barely seem to have any time to check my email lately! We'll see. The seed has been planted....it would be fun to relive the past,a nd I could attach pictures of some of the craziness my friends and I partook in. Yeah, that would be cool....

So You Want To Be A Model?

fashion modeling | modeling. modeling advice

I thought I would share some tips and knowledge that I learned along the way when I was working full-time as a fashion model. I have a young cousin who is interested in entering the world of fashion modeling, and talking to her about it has prompted me to jot down some things every newbie in the industry should know....

1. Legitimate agencies will NEVER ask you for any money upfront. Agencies make their money by charging you a comission (20% for print and 10% for commercials) on every job you do. They will advance you the cost of travel, tests, comp cards, lodging, etc. and these expenses will then be taken out from your earnings.

Memoirs of A Middle Model Part 1

adventure | fashion modeling | friendship | memoirs | Milan | modeling | Taiwan | traveling

Yesterday I was cleaning out some old files when I found a notebook with the rough drafts of emails I used to send out to my friends recapping my adventures during my modeling seasons. These emails became known to my friends and family as "the end of season chronicles", and the flood of emotions & memories that came rushing over me while I read these put me in a bittersweet, melancholy funk for the rest of the day. Here is one of these letters:
