John D. Rockefeller
By GERALD CARROLL

What is happening now is what steelmaker Andrew Carnegie, banker J.P. Morgan and oilman John D. Rockefeller prevented from happening in the early 20th century. Only now, there’s nothing to stop it because nobody knows how it began, and nobody has the perspective to know what to do.

I finally broke down and went to the grocery store today. I have never enjoyed shopping for groceries, and now that we don't live near a good grocery store, I have an even more difficult time feeling like I want to go, but necessity required the trip--gotta feed those kids! Anyway, on the way to the the "lovely" Giant grocery store that is in our tiny town, I had to drive past the two gas stations.

Many investors have a love affair with cheap stocks, but as Mr O'Neil (Founder of nvestor's Business Daily) puts it: "Stocks are cheap for a reason". In many (but not ALL) instances, investors try to buy stocks on the cheap without realizing that they're buying stocks of a corporation mired in problems with slowing earnings, sales growth and shrinking market share. These are bad characteristics for a stock to have, cheap or not.

Turn on the news at any hour on any given day, and you will hear it. The United States, as well as all other countries are going to hell in a handbasket. When I think back over this week alone, I cannot come up with a single news item that I read, listened to, or saw that wasn't about how bad things are in the world in general, and in the United States in particular.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.

I've been gone for awhile, and I'm not sure how often I'll be checking back in, but I had something to say about what's going on with the primaries thus far.
Truthfully, I'm tired of it all. I'm tired of talking about what someone did or didn't do back in 2003. I'm tired of talking about tax returns, plagiarism, Iraq, and, believe it or not, healthcare.

Brace yourself.
According to a news article at cnbc.com, gas prices could hit $4.00 a gallon this summer.
As if it wasn't already bad enough.
I'm really wondering how much money people are already spending on gas. I know it takes about $70 to fill the tank up on my SUV right now. That's a big chunk of change just for gas.
