DISH Network has added World Fishing Network HD in their high-definition line-up. World Fishing Network (WFN) launched in December 2005 as the first channel dedicated to covering every aspect of the angling and sport fishing industry and Insight Sports a leading sports media and entertainment company announced that they reached a carriage agreement with DISH Network.

After launching 22 new high-definition channels, DISH Network removed 10 of the 15 VOOM high-definition channels few days back. Now the satcaster have removed the remaining five VOOM HD channels left from its programming. Dish CEO Charlie Ergen, while presenting the first quarter results admitted that the 10 VOOM high-definition channels have been removed after the launch of the 22 new HD channels and announced that the remaining five would also be removed and be replaced with other HD channels.

Time Warner Cable has entered a carriage agreement with BabyFirstTV, America's first and only channel dedicated to child-development programming. Time Warner is to join other multiple system operator's (MSO) like DirecTV, DISH Network, Comcast, Charter and AT&T to carry the 24/7 commercial-free network for babies and toddlers. BabyFirstTV has now carriage agreements with providers to reach 80% of the US market.

Dish Network has announced last Wednesday the launch of Eurochannel, which is first of its kind to broadcast movies, TV series and original productions from all over Europe. The programming will be aired with original audio with English subtitles.Eurochannel will be delivered at no additional cost in Dish Network’s French Bouquet programming package, which is $19.99 a month.

As announced earlier, ESPNews has launched its high-definition channel today at 8.00 AM ET with the networks first hour simulcast on ESPN HD and later on ESPN 2 HD and ESPN. Comcast, DirecTV and Time Warner Cable have signed carriage agreement with the channel to carry the new HD channel, but not to carry during the launch.

According to Sanford C. Bernstein analyst Craig Moffett Dish Network has underperformed in the fourth quarter of 2007. The analyst predicted to add about 148,000 subscribers in this quarter but Dish Network was able to add only about 85,000 subscribers, which is far less compared to fourth quarter of 2006, the Dish Network added about 350,000 subscribers in fourth quarter of 2006. The Analyst described this as problem because of housing, lower churn for the whole industry, these factors lead to little addition to new subscribers to Dish Network.
