It’s painfully obvious that the Republicans know they have a losing candidate with a losing platform. They’ve nominated a candidate who has consistently aligned himself with the policies of a President that 82% of all Americans - not just Democrats, all Americans - are dissatisfied with, and the Republicans know they have made a drastic mistake.

Barack Obama

Well, the big speech is over and Osama bin Barack … uh, I mean Barack bin Laden … oops, I mean Barack Obama has thrown out the gauntlet to the Republicans and the elderly John McCain.
Up Late
Submitted by jaden40 on August 11, 2008 - 7:48am. democrats | paid commercials | Republicans | speechesOne evening(late night), I happened to be watching what I thought was a typical ad promoting Senator Obama for president. Well, it turned out to be a thirty minute ad with clips from town meetings, public speeches, and interviews with supporters of this man. I was amazed at the content and found myself again wanting to get out and campaign even harder to get this man into the White House.
"The Mistake of the Democrats is in Not Admitting they Made a Mistake"
Submitted by BurningPlanet on May 17, 2008 - 7:31am. democrats | Iraq | withdrawlThe Democrats are against the War in Iraq? Since when?
We all remember the Lieberman attack, which was fair... but this party aspires to an identity it can never claim. You cannot take back those votes. You had a chance and plenty of time to debate and you leafrogged that and anything resembling political sanity because you simply trusted a Republican President so much that you had to give him the ability to overcome checks and balances on this one?
Republicans Vote Against Mothers.
Submitted by IntricateGirl on May 11, 2008 - 6:14am. democrats | Mother's Day | Republicans | voteProving once again that they have no soul, Republicans have voted against mothers. Or, more specifically, against Mother's Day.
On Thursday, there was a vote to recognize and honor mothers. They originally voted 412-0 in favor of House Resolution 1113. But then, Rep. Todd Tiahrt asked for them to "reconsider" the vote. Rep. Kathy Castor moved to table the request. This led to a revote, at which time, 178 Republicans voted "nay".
And Hopefully These "Twain" Shall Meet!
Submitted by Sassys on March 7, 2008 - 10:27am. democrats | fighting | politicsI don't know about you guys out there, but I am sick of the Hillary/Obama infighting...it's not helping either of them garner any more respect and tends to give the dreaded McCain more ammo. Didn't they both announce at their "debate" (that in itself is debatable)that they would part as friends?
THE DEATH OF GOOD OL BOY POLITICIANS.
Submitted by straightshooter on November 23, 2007 - 5:51am. democrats | economics | entertainment | Funny | politicians | politics | presidential election | RepublicanAs the presidential election looms closer and the race heats up its become obvious that the vast majority of voters that do stand up to be counted are becoming more and more burned out on the so called "televised debates" that seem to "herd" us once again towards the same old stale politics by the same old stale politicains of the same old stale and burnt out partys - which by the way have become harder to tell the difference between the two anymore. We have been subjected once again to the patented and sterile questions from the mediator that is designed to bore the hell out of you and keep you from interfering with the politicians that have been choosen for you by a media that refuses to allow you to see all of the fruit on the tree. More and more the images of people who dare to stand up and question the "authorities" and "candidates" are wisked from the arena and labled "unruly" so as not to raise that red flag in peoples minds - I mean who do these rebels think they are asking anything from their elected officials let alone expecting anything from them once their in office, don't these rebels realize that this is the new world order and you will do as your told and vote for the candidates that are choosen for them?
When Will the Troops Come Home?
Submitted by ms zola on July 10, 2007 - 3:42am. bush | congress | democrats | Iraq | Republicans | troops | warConditions in Iraq keep going from bad to worse. As the number of American casualties grow, one can only wonder when Bush will admit he was wrong and allow Congress to bring our troops home.
The responsibility of the war seems to fall on the same people over and over. Their deployments are being lengthened because there are not enough new troops to fill in the numbers.

A Democrat says reinstate the draft? WTF?
Submitted by lpferris on November 19, 2006 - 11:33am. democrats | military draft | WTFToday, Rep. Charles Rangel, a Democrat from New York, stated that he will introduce legislation to reinstate the draft in the United States. He says that because of increased threats and possible action against Iran and North Korea, combined with the way our occupation of Iraq is taxing our human resources, a draft will be absolutely necessary to our success.
Representative Rengel stated that he is certain that the decision to invade Iraq would not have been as hasty, and would not have been allowed based on such "flimsy evidence" if there were already a draft, and members of congress knew that young people in their districts would have been placed in harm's way. I can kind of see his point, but it's a little late. That is irrelevant now, and a reinstated draft would only serve to put more young people in harm's way.
I Can't Wait to Start Complaining
Submitted by bdwick on November 9, 2006 - 9:21pm. democrats | election | Michael Savage | politics | Republicans | rush limbaugh[b]Firstly, congratulations to the Democrats. The Republicans have made too many mistakes lately...and it's a wonder the races were even as close as they were. The Dems should've walked away with a lot more votes than what they did. Hell, if I could've voted, I probably would've voted for the Dems, too. But now, onto my rant.
Finally...it's our turn to complain. For the last six years, I've heard nothing but "Bush this" and "Cheney that." Every little thing that happens under Bush's watch - no matter how small or trivial - has been widely criticized and publicized in the media.
Tommorow is the election.
Submitted by IntricateGirl on November 6, 2006 - 9:53am. democrats | election | politics | Republicans | usTommorow is the US election, and there aren't many excuses sturdy enough to warrant not making it to the polls. The only exception that comes to mind is if you have a MASSIVE coronary on your way to the poll. If that isn't the case, you'd better have your butt there first thing in the morning.
There are 30 states which allow you to vote during work. Check here for more info.

Submitted by IntricateGirl on October 31, 2006 - 9:09am. democrats | election | politics | Republicans | voteOtherwise known as, you should have done your own homework!
Officials today have announced that because the election is so heated this year, they are taking steps to ease the polls. They are expecting a large voter turnout, and they want to avoid the potential firestorm that is certain to happen when staunch Democrats and fierce Republicans have to meet at the polls. So in order to combat any potential problems, they have announced that they are changing the polling dates somewhat. See below for the proper voting date.

Submitted by IntricateGirl on October 5, 2006 - 1:57pm. democrats | Foley | page | Representatives | Republicans | SpeakerDennis Hastert, the Speaker of the House said today, “But I said on the other hand, if I fold up my tent and leave, and others have to fold up their tents and leave, then where does that leave us? It’s with the Democrats’ sweep. Then we have no ability to fight back, he said."
And thus continues my disappointment with choosing the wrong person to bet on. I don't think that Hastert knew about the Foley page scandal. I think the question that should be asked is whether he SHOULD have known. Should he? Yes. But I cannot imagine what it is like to be the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States of America. That's a whole kind of busy that I will never be able to grasp. And I can imagine that it is very true that he does not get presented all of the information his staff gathers. And even when he is presented that info, it may not necessarily capture his attention. How do I know? Because I was a page at my state Capitol.
Are Democrats Serious?
Submitted by JohnnyP5379 on July 13, 2006 - 5:32pm. DCCC | democrats | George Bush | hurricane katrinaThere is a new commercial from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee that you can view here. In the commercial, it opens with a statement that things are getting worse in America, followed by images of car bombings in Iraq, dead soldiers, closed factories, and hurricane tracking maps. These images are then followed by pictures of President Bush and Vice President Cheney. While the commercial does not blame the president for these problems, it is not that hard to do the math.
