Young naive political views may cause a downfall in our country

clinton | country | debate | Democrat | downfall | McCain | Obama | political | politics | Republican

In the local events of the past several months to a year - or so it seems, I have begun to realize that people are more affected than I ever thought. The debates between political runners is down right rude and I can't see anything good coming out of this. Obama only gets young people because he has celebrities putting money in his pocket and using it as an advance for themselves in their careers. His entire "show" as a leader has been self-serving and underhanded. Asking him questions only gets run-around answers. Why won't he pledge allegiance to the United States, wear a U.S. flag, or put his hand on a Bible? Will we ever get real answers, or will it be too late before someone wakes up and really sees what is going on? I hope it doesn't get as far as the White House to find out we have an evil dictoral president. This man, well let's just say my gut doesn't trust him one bit.

Are You Ready For The Next President? I think Not.

barack obama | debate | Hillary Clinton | president | vote

So obviously, today is all about our next president. Will we be saying Sir or Ma'am? It's been debated for a long while now. But the real stuff isn't until next year! So we thought we'd dip our toes into that one today. Now, mom has no particular side. (Democratic or Republican) But I am a Democrat. So, we'll see!!

Food, the Ultimate Enabler

blog | debate | diet | exercise | psycology | self help

As I've started to lose weight, I've been pondering why I overate in the first place. A quick answer is "I love to eat." But then to that answer it must be further asked why? My ponderings led me to conclude that food is the ultimate enabler.

A Commentary for Halloween

Conservative | debate | halloween | holidays | liberal | Religion

I'd like to put forward an argument. Basically the same people who decry that the "Christ" is being taken out of Christmas and we should have prayer in school seem to have no problem trying to take the fun out of Halloween.

Does the World Ever Learn from the Past?

debate | peace | politics | Religion | world

I look at the world and despite all the wonderful advancements I wonder: Have really learned anything from the past?

It seems since the dawn of civilization it seems we are in constant conflict and stuggle. For reasons that range from good to evil, we engage in conflicts because we can't, won't, or simply don't want to see the other side's point of view. People have been killing, robbing, stealing, conquering, and destroying since the beginning. History is awash with the rise and fall of civilizations and along with their magisty, their butality in order to get there.

The 8th Deadly Sin

debate | Religion | sin

Well, this was a blog I wrote a while back and was going to place it on writingup but since they're no longer around, I guess I'll do it here. I'm guessing this will get some comments, I notice people tend to comment more here than on writingup.

Recently I suddenly decided to have a look at my Helium articles again and subsequently entered a new phase of writing more articles and rating other people's pieces more frequently as well. It's good fun to check your earnings every now and then and see them increase, however slowly at times.

Cultural Misunderstandings

culture | debate | discussion | politics

When people don't understand the culture of another nation it is easy for misunderstandings to occur.

The English and Americans are taught that it is bad manners and, indeed, bad form to argue in public and English husbands and wives would normally present a united Front in public. whereas the french, who are trained in rhetoric from their earliest days in nursery school, think that discussion and disagreement are healthy and it is not unusual to hear French married couples in heated discussion or even having a screaming row in the street.

You Are So Cute In Your Angry Need To Have The Last Word

adolescence | conflict | debate | ego | identity

I suppose I overlook that my 14y/o son is clinging to his emerging sense of identity when he "debates" so many "issues" that I had not realized were such fodder for conflict. I suppose it may have come off a bit condescending when I told him how cute he is in his seemingly angry need to have the last word. I suppose that may have been my attempt to have the last word.

Hmmm. I suppose I can deceive myself and say I was only trying to communicate with him on his own level. I suppose a therapist-type would suggest that I was full of the feces.

Muslims' bogus rally before Christian Preacher’s home base

Bible | debate | DVD | Eliseo Soriano | false religion | koran | Muslims | preacher | rally | tithing | VCD

Pampanga, Philippines – First, it was the al Qaeda terrorists who were found to be downloading data from the Internet, altering the context by adding, subtracting, or twisting information in order to fit a desired end; finally burning them into DVDs and VCDs, and then distributing these to their people. Some days later, this would lead their Muslim brothers to attack an establishment.

Recently, a repeat of the whole thing was observed – only that it was happening in this part of the country, and only that the perpetrators were not al Qaeda but the enemies of Bro. Eli Soriano, the most controversial preacher of today.

English as our national language.

debate | english | language

I read an article today about the need for more interpreters in hospitals. This could lead me off into a thousand different directions, but this is the one where it did lead.

On the right, people want to make English the national language. On the left, people want to leave it alone because of our "melting pot" beginnings. I'm in the middle, because I don't think it makes a bit of difference.

Oprah for Vice President in 2008?

clinton | debate | election | Oprah | president

I was watching the news tonight and I saw a story about Hillary Clinton asking Oprah to be her running mate for the 2008 election. Then I turn on this show called Scarborogh Country and they're debating it! What do you think of this?
According to SC, Oprah actually could pull in tons of votes because she is so popular. People really do trust her and she has so much control of the media.

Sports Betting sides with the minority. FREE Picks!!!

Baseball | basketball | competition | debate | decisions | football | Gambling | minority | money | sports betting | TV

I took an Argument and Debate class in college. Since I like to argue for the sake of mental exercise, I once took a position in favor of sweat shops. My reasoning for doing so was that since I wear so much Nike footwear and apparel, who am I to disagree.

If you had not heard, the Houston Texans selected Mario Williams, not Reggie Bush with the number one overall pick in last weekend's NFL draft. While everyone else gawks at this decision, I will try to defend it.

GOD has a better plan for me.

belief | Bible | debate | discussion | faith | God | Religion

I was having a conversation today. I was saying how I wanted to get a job so bad so I could get my own place and pay back all the people that helped me along the way. As well as take care of my debt and my brothers and sisters and just a myriad of other things. I was expressing my anger about how nothing is going right and how I hate living like this. Do you know what this person said to me? "God has a better plan for you."

Ruthless Protesting, Stop Spitting On Their Graves

CNN | current events | debate | Iraq | life | Military | news | opinion | politics | Religion | war | world

I am angry, I am pissed! I have been holding this in for a week, hoping this anger would soon fade away. Nope. It doesn’t work that way.

I will not express at this time how I feel about the war. All my usual opinions do not count today. Because this is not about the war or the right to protest. This is about being so disgustingly disrespectful that I scream when I speak of this.

Americans protesting at the funerals of our soldiers. Yelling profanity at the families of these men and woman who served OUR country. Waving signs with Gods name on them and spitting on their graves. How dare anyone judge another human being, believe me their judgement will reflect on their actions of today.
