I usually wake up around 9 in the morning to have plenty of time to open the store by 10. Today I woke up a bit early, so I figured I could use the extra time to work on some accounting stuff I had been putting off for the past few days. Even with the extra half hour, I still managed to be late. Not that it matters since it is usually dead (with the exception of the old ladies looking for the law offices two doors down from us) for about an hour or so when we first open the doors. Not seconds after I unlock the door, a familiar face is making his way across the street. I like to call him the urban cowboy. You would understand if you saw him. He is a stout man, that always wears a cowboy hat, tucked in t-shirt, a belt buckle the size of his head, blue jeans that are way too big, black boots, and spurs. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the bright red handlebar moustache and the beer gut the size of a small child. I swear this guy waits in his car outside the store everyday, and if there is ever a day that we open a few minutes late, we will hear about it.

Yellow seems to be the Texas color- roses, “yellow bridge lights�. Okay maybe not everything is yellow, but it does seem to come up a lot in literature like the one by Larry McMurtry. I like the way he refers to the guy speaking in Tex-Mex, its such a true picture especially when he says, “Ees okay�. I love the twinge of humor he hints at like the German Shepard dog in the blur of pornography. And the Duane saying, “we might as well get some beer.� And Juanita, “Texas ees full of queers.� I laughed out loud, if any of my hard-core Texas friends read this story I can just see them glaring over the pages trying not to laugh. But most people think guys are supposed to be turned on by anything with breasts, but I am guessing guys are just, if not more, as picky as girls. Another thing that is universal about guys before sex is their minds wondering if they are too small. (But if the girls pregnant buddy I would hope you’d just leave her alone!)
