Petroleum-based fuels are possibly the largest source of man-made carbon so it was only logical to reduce gasoline consumption. The solution proposed was to start blending ethanol (produced from corn) with gasoline. This has been going on long enough now that we can access the impact of this program.

Should We Save Endangered Animals?
Submitted by LaundryMom on April 15, 2008 - 4:52am. animals | Climate change | climate crisis | ecology | Endangered AnimalsI was having a conversation with my eight year old last night, and I don't know what got into me, but I just felt like playing the "devil's advocate" to see what she would say. It seems in elementary schools these days, children are being taught that we all need to help save endangered animals and we all need to change our habits in order to stop the "climate crisis." At face value, I tend to agree that we should be good conservators of what we have been given here on earth, but I am starting to feel a little offended at the assumption of some of these folks who demand that certain animals be saved and that the weather patterns we are seeing now are somehow something we need to intervene in.
climate change joke

First they said that the online game second life has a carbon footprint. then it was said that formal clothes worn to the office lead to more carbon emissions as the airconditioning has to be turned up higher.

Turning lights off in rooms which are not occupied, buying the most efficient domestic machines, not leaving electrical equipment on stand by, all save money on power bills. Recycling saves our local taxes from going up next year. Planning journeys so as to save unnecessary car journeys saves money on petrol or deisel. Buying fresh food, grown locally which hasn't travelled half-way accross the world losing its vitamins along the way is better for our health and helps our local farmers and growers.
