Just a few days ago the local police used a new strategy - trained sniffer dogs were taken to the local teenage hotspots and night club area, and as patrons lined up to enter, the sniffer dogs walked along and singled out those who had drugs.

Over 20 young people who had drugs of all sorts on their person were taken away to the City Watchhouse and were charged with a range of drug offences.

The newspaper heralded the success of the exercise - along with the wailings of the civil libertarians who proclaimed that it was a disgrace that people, the majority of whom were innocent were subject to sniffing by the dogs. How embarrassing!

Everywhere, in the papers, blogs, magazines, and on the television, the forward charge is to restrict, manage, control, and generally prevent sex offenders from perpetrating their perversities upon the innocent children. A laudable and reasonable mission. Some will go so far as to demand castration, if not death, to the rapist, child molester, exhibitionist, froterrist, or voyeur. Again, we must keep the children and any other potential victim safe!
