Sad news trickled down to me via my mother yesterday when we showed up for our Christmas dinner.
Kansas City icon blues singer Annetta "Cotton Candy" Washington, 79, had passed away early Christmas morning due to complications from a stroke she had suffered on December 15th.

Submitted by Pussy Willow on June 2, 2007 - 3:19pm. blues | PROJECT X | smokingPussy Willow’s got those dirty, low-down, smokin’ blues. She’s been trying to quit smoking and it’s been a real tough week. I mean rough, babies.
So, I figured, why should I be the only one to suffer? And I sat right down and I wrote this little abomination so that whoever reads it can suffer right along with me. And just for general meanness, I put it to music and I sang it to my cats.
J. Geils Band "Love Stinks"

Geils Band already had a lengthy resume to their credits by the time the calender turned on the '80s. Their potent mix of blues-based rock and R&B had made the band a popular live draw throughtout the '70s, but ten albums since their formation in 1967 had produced only a handful of US Top 40 hits, none of them reaching the Top Ten.
Monday blues?
Submitted by fren on April 24, 2006 - 9:23pm. blues | Monday | workNobody likes to go back to work on Monday. My class od trainees dislike Mondays too. They told me that Monday is the begining of another work-day, where they would have to do lots of pratical work.
Monday also opens another chapter in your weekly lives. If you take Monday as the beginning of each week, that is. After Monday, the rest of the days in the week will pass by pretty soon and presto! you are now having the whole weekend fun!
The problem with the blues

Right now, the campus is all but deserted. Winter classes haven't started yet. It's been raining almost constantly for a week, but yesterday it let up, and the sun came out. Today, I walked across the campus courtyard by the Sather Gate. It was empty, except for a few tourists and one guy, off by himself with a guitar, playing and singing.
