Should you quit your day job to blog?

adsense | belief | blog | commitment | faith | job | mortgage | passion | revenue | share | website | write

Yes, if you love what you are doing passionately and genuinely want to get on with it. There are many reasons why a writer should follow her/his dream and bog away.

1. The Internet presents a golden opportunity to express yourself in unprecedented ways without the editorial straitjacket of someone else's idea of what you should write or even how you should write it. You also have an instant global audience, especially one which is likely to be interested in your subject matter and specific expertise. An audience which is guaranteed to grow as they get used to your subject, bookmark your page and pass on your items to others.

Something to Believe In

beds | belief | believe | Religion

I have an aunt who is really in to
Catholic saints
. Not only does she have a bunch of pictures of them in her house, she has a few statues of them, too. I’m not a big fan of the Catholic religion, but I would never bash it. People have the right to believe what they want to believe as long as it doesn’t interfere with me. Some people believe in aliens. Some people believe in mood rings. Some people believe in nothing. Some people even believe that we are creating a warmer climate all over the earth. And they have the right to believe that, too. I, on the other hand, believe that all of that is a bunch of hogwash. Maybe if it was based on something other than junk science it would be more believable. Unfortunately, it’s based on a few circumstantial facts that they have stretched into something that they want to make it.

Watching the Christmas Tree

belief | Christmas | tradition | walking

One of the things I have always enjoyed about Christmas is the Christmas tree. My family generally works together at putting it up as December starts and then we have at least a month to enjoy it.

One of the things I've always enjoyed is to just sit and enjoy the beauty of the decorated tree. Now you have to carve out some quiet moments in the busy season to do this. But when I do, I never regret it. The tree (even our artificial one), the decorations and the lights. Oh I love the multi-color lights. When you are alone, and it is quiet, you can really appreciate the beauty.

Rebirth,

belief | Born again | Imagination | rebirth | Religion | Truth

All the people out there who have turned their will and their lives over to the power of their imagination will never understand how wonderful life can be.

Such people credit the beauty of everything around them to the deity of their imagination instead of the beauty within themselves.

Alas, the imaginary people of "faith" saved but the ugliness for humanity, not realizing they twisted it all around.

GOD has a better plan for me.

belief | Bible | debate | discussion | faith | God | Religion

I was having a conversation today. I was saying how I wanted to get a job so bad so I could get my own place and pay back all the people that helped me along the way. As well as take care of my debt and my brothers and sisters and just a myriad of other things. I was expressing my anger about how nothing is going right and how I hate living like this. Do you know what this person said to me? "God has a better plan for you."

Thoughts on Judaism and Christianity - with respect to all

The values of Christianity, like those of most religions, are beautiful etc.

I believe that a Jewish man named Joshua (later changed to Jesus when the New Testament was written up in Koine, a Greek dialect) was absolutely right about the priests in the temple, the corruption etc and he had the courage to stand up to the establishment, go his own way, I admire all of that.
