Blogging and The Writing Community

I have seen numerous articles from authors about the blogging wave that has taken the internet, which has been a negative view by many. Blogging has certainly swept through the internet, but how has blogging effected the writing community in general?

There are many who are outspoken, sometimes upset, with the current trend. The mentioned trend also includes self-publishing and other “creative media” made for the average person. Those who oppose such resources will argue that it gives untalented people exposure to their uneducated, unexperienced ramblings.

I'm Writing A Book

adventure | authors | editors | fashion | memoirs | modeling | publishers | traveling

I have decided to write a book. After finding old emails and journals while Spring cleaning my house and reading all that I had written during my four years spent traveling for work in the fashion industry, I have become inspired to put together all of my memoirs and turn them into a book.

Along with my own experiences, adventures and foibles, I want to include stories contributed by my close group of friends who traveled to all of the same places as I did......making this book something of an anthology of memoirs. Middle Model Memoirs.....And luckily, I have been able to get the majority of my friends to join in on the endeavor, with the exception of the few who are pen shy.

Chapter 2 (new friendships)

Breendahbeyllah loved the way she looked in her mirror but hated the reason she had to be dressed to perfection. She was in truth a prisoner, but what made her different from the other prisoners here at Bravornah Island was the fact that Jordah found her attractive, which meant she could live in the upper floors. Just like the staff instead of down in the dungeons. She was certain that if he ever grew tired of her she would be in the dungeons with the other prisoners or next in line for the headsman’s block.

PROLOGUE (Forbidden)

“ You knew this was forbidden.? The hierarch of air bellowed and the sound of his booming voice echoed around the stone chamber. The joy of reading.

authors | books | literature | reading

I am a voracious reader. Many people say that, but I am always curious what they mean when they say it. Does that mean they have read many classics? Or maybe they read a lot of books, none of which are worth speaking about. Or maybe they seem to have some variation of obsessive compulsive disorder where they feel they MUST read anything they can.

I suppose I would fall in the third category. I have a library in my home. One entire room of my house has nothing but books, and even then, there are books throughout the rest of my house and even filling several bookcases at my mom's house. I have books on everything ranging from the paintings of Bosch and Dali, to books about Jack the Ripper, and even tenth rate sci-fi books which do not deserve a mention.
