Arkanoid Video Game

I could see many people saying "What the hell is Arkanoid"! Especially the youngsters. Arkanoid was a video game that was very popular in the early 1980's. You would see it in many liquor stores or arcades you went into. The game wasn't that complicated, the concept was very simple yet the game was really challenging. You controlled a ship on the bottom of the screen (it really doesn't even look like a ship)that moved only left and right.

Kung Fu Master Video Game

Kung Fu Master was a very popular arcade game of the 1980's that later would be released on NES, Playchoice-10, Atari 2600, Atari 2800 and other video game consoles.

The main character of the game was Thomas. You had to punch and kick Thomas's way up 5 floors fighting grippers (regular size guys who liked to hold you), tom toms (the midgets - who would sometimes do a flip and smack you on the head) and knife throwers. You would take a real beating trying to make it to the top floor but if you did you would save your love - Sylvia. At the end of each floor you would meet up with the leader of the floor. You would probably get your butt kicked the first couple times around until you practice a little and learn the strategies to beat each leader.

I told my uncle one time that they should make a tv set that let you stop or fast forward through commercials live, as you watch it. He told me that was silly. That's what VHS was for. Besides, why would you want to stop it. Any kid knows why you would want to stop it for only a few seconds. Inevitably, mom makes you brush your teeth right when something good is coming on. We now call this Tivo.

I don’t know about you, but I love the classics. Give me an Atari 2600 over an Xbox any day. Hook up an N64 and I’ll happily while away the hours proving my prowess on Pokemon Stadium. The newer games are nice, but I’m always draw back to the games of yesteryear.
If you are like me and feel the older games are still the best, email me through www.ether.com, screen name theresabluej, listing Computer Geek. I can help you find emulators, roms, cheat codes and strategy guides for tons of classic games!
