Nelson Mandela, the former South African president, is in London for the week to celebrate his 90th birthday. He is set to attend an outdoor concert that is in his honor in Hyde Park on this coming Friday. The performances will include Queen, Annie Lennox, Leona Lewis, and the Soweto Gospel Choir. Amy Winehouse will also perform if her doctors say that it is okay for her to do so. The proceeds from the concert will go to 46664 charity, which is the AIDS charity named after the number Mandela wore while he was imprisoned by South Africa’s apartheid authorities.

She has an irregular heartbeat and has been warned that if she keeps smoking drugs she will have to wear an oxygen mask and her voice will be ruined. Singer Amy Winehouse’s husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, has pleaded guilty to assaulting a barman and then trying to cover it up. His is on trial in London on charges of attacking a pub landlord, named James King, and then conspiring with him to withdraw as a witness at the trial. He could possibly receive five years in prison for the assault charge. Even though it is unlikely, he could possibly face a life sentence in prison for perverting the course of justice.
