Most artists think that doing an album and getting a record deal will make it for them but a lot of times even having a recording contract doesn't bring you fame. The best way to become know as a singer is to sing in public and do as many gigs as you can. If you have an album or a song you want to promote then you can take your cd's to your gigs and sell them. Also it's hype. If you've got nice photos, flyers, radio credits it all helps to get you known. And it depends on what kind of song you have aswell. Who listens to your music? Are you singig in the right places? An artist(e) can get bored easily concentrating on all the promotion but it's very important if you want to be a success. They can screw us over in a heartbeat, yet we are supposed to blindly follow them no matter what happens. Then, if we don't, we're considered "Unpatriotic".
