"Here is my advice as we begin the century that will lead to 2081. First, guard the freedom of ideas at all costs. Be alert that dictators have always played on the natural human tendency to blame others and to oversimplify. And don't regard yourself as a guardian of freedom unless you respect and preserve the rights of people you disagree with to free, public, unhampered expression."

My vision at the time was a small plane and maybe an accident then the second plane hit the trade center, then we realized we were under attack, I don't think I got a whole lot of work done that day.
Cheney Knew
Submitted by ms zola on August 23, 2007 - 10:20am. 7th year | 9/11 | cheney | Iraq | osama Biin Laden | VietnamIt appears that Vice President Dick Cheney not only knew that Iraq would turn into another Vietnam, but knew it 15 years ago when the 1st President Bush was considering invading Iraq.
WHY would he okay the invasion when he understood the outcome of the Vietnam conflict? WHY would America go to war knowing there was no way out?

64 Billion dollars spent on the war on terror and Iraq, 64 Billion more requested!! We need an effective means to deal with Muslim terrorists.
Since the war on terror costs so much money, I suggest we cease all pursuits outside the Continental U.S. and instead build a tower, funded by the U.S. Government, contracted to the good Judeo-Christian contractors of America, on some remote New England Island every year for the purpose of allowing the terrorists to Jihad thier Syr/Iranin Airlines into.
Chicago Yelp Website Has Major Donnybrook Concerning 9/11 Theory

Bush | Iraq | Tell a Great StoryMajor confrontation broke out today when a writer at the Yelp Chicago reviews site started a forum insinuating elements of our own government might have been behind the hijacked planes and subsequent attacks on 9/11/2001. The usual staunchly Republican and conservative elements of the site immediately and idiotically pooh-poohed this suggestion reflexively without supporting their positions at all, and became extremely defensive when the original poster began to intelligently rebuff their incredibly weak arguments.
Anniversary
Submitted by gellybaby on November 10, 2006 - 1:42pm. 7/7 | 9/11 | poem[b][i]***This piece was written in September this year.
Yesterday was the anniversary of what has become known throughout the World as 9/11. All of us can remember staring in total disbelief at our TV screens as these terrible events unfolded. In that indiscriminate slaughter almost every nation on Earth lost nationals, every religion on earth lost members. I can remember the nations of the earth standing in silent tribute to the memory of those who died, The stock exchange in London fell uncharacteristically silent as the traders stood by their blinking computer screens, all of London and all of the UK fell silent as we remembered those who lost their lives that awful day. My thoughts and prayers last night were for those whose loved one didn't come home that day.
Why Some Lawyers Are Wealthy
Submitted by theclassy1 on September 17, 2006 - 12:29pm. 9/11 | LawsuitsSad story with the potential for a happy ending. A widow of a man who died in the September 11 attacks was represented by an attorney. Contingency fees by attorneys representing families were disfavored. She asked the attorney to represent her before the Victims Compensation Fund. As a result, the attorney sought $2,000,000 as a contingency fee. She sought representation by simmons jannace & stagg. The final outcome was that the case would not be seen before a federal court, but a state court instead.

It is good to know that someone is still out there ready to aid the "little people". Recently, the law firm of simmons, jannace & stagg was asked by a widow of a man who died in the attacks to represent her in connection with a lawsuit filed in federal court by the lawyer that was representing her before the Victims Compensation Fund for the families of 9/11 victims was started.

May peace be with you.
May peace be with your loved ones.
May your legacy not be lost, and all survivors learn from the tragedy, travail, and calamity that has taken your life.
May your loved ones be treasured, nurtured, and cared for. May they be valued as ones who have lost something precious. And may your loved ones feel empowered to move on to live a life that would make you proud.

The September 11, 2001, attack on the World trade center
Today, as I am writing these notes, is September 11, 2006. We all remember that fright filled day five years ago, when so many lives were lost, and we thought the world was destined to end.
Here is a re-look at an article I posted at that time.

Submitted by IntricateGirl on September 10, 2006 - 4:17pm. 9/11 | family | movie | plane | terrorism | United 93Tell me something. Am I being unreasonable that I want to beat my sister? She felt the need to tell my son about 9/11, and then, when they were renting a movie, she let him pick out United 93. My position is that he's 7, he seems obsessed with it, and he knows that it happened in New York and that both of his parents are getting on a plane to go there within a week, this close to the 5 year anniversary. When I found out she rented it, I made it clear to my mom that he was NOT to watch it. She said that she didn't think my sister rented it for him. Sure enough, a few minutes later she was talking about him watching it. Did she bother to check the box for the rating? Did she somehow decide that the scene with a boxcutter and an airline attendant was appropriate viewing? Or maybe it was where the plane slams into the ground that sealed it for her. And then she had the nerve to say that it was "unfair" that he couldn't watch the movie he picked out.
United93: Stupid news about a stupid movie.
Submitted by lpferris on April 27, 2006 - 9:49am. 9/11 | movies | United93In reviewing the news today, and trying to catch up on the many exciting events that happened in the world while I wasn't paying attention, I came across this article:
"Actor in 9/11 Film Denied Access Into US"
Shocking? I think not. I recall recently having a conversation with my wife about how the little-known actors chosen to depict the "terrorists" in the United 93 movie are basically screwed for the rest of their lives. If anyone actually sees the movie (which I hope they don't, as discussed in my blog from a few weeks ago), the actors faces will be instantly recognizable by TSA agents, law enforcement officers, and just regular people on the street.
But oh well, right? They're doing our country a service by honoring the supposed victims of Flight 93 (which...ahem...is the topic of a future blog).
