I finally got out and enjoyed myself Friday night. I haven't done a whole lot of anything this summer so far. Just working and thats about it.

XM Satellite and Sirius Satellite Radio have completed their merger. The merged company will change its name to Sirius XM Radio Inc. Their stock will continue to be traded on the Nasdaq under the symbol SIRI. The company now has more than 18.5 million subscribers and expects to save about $400 million in costs in 2009.

If you have problems getting enough sleep there are several easy remedies. It is a good idea to establish a regular bedtime routine where you would go to sleep at the same time every night. Avoid caffeine and alcohol before going to bed. It is best not to keep anything that would cause distractions in the bedroom, such as televisions and radios. Here in Atlanta a major change in radio stations is about to happen. 99X, an alternative rock station, is about to go away, becoming an internet only station, and Q100, the number 2 top-40 station and leading FM station, is taking over the frequency, 99.7. The reasons listed are declining listeners for 99X and a need for Q100 to better compete with Star 94, the current number 1 top-40 station. I wonder though, if anyone really realizes the implications of what just happened.

I have found television programes becoming more and more banal and formulaic and, to be truthful, sheer rubbish and insulting to the intelligence. BigBrothercelebritygetmeoutofhere at al, all the same, and I really don't understand what is entertaining about watching people sleep, perhaps I'm getting old!

We are coming down to the wire on this Guinness Book record setting for the most guitarists playing "Smoke On The Water" at the same time. The record is 1,329, so this radio station wants at least 2,000 guitarists just to make sure it is record breaking. The guitar is my favorite instrument, however, I cannot play. If I could, you bet I would be taking part in this. The sound alone is worth just going out to hear.

The waiting for the Daytona 500 race at the Daytona International Speedway is almost over. I have been checking out Central Florida, Daytona Beach is on the Atlantic Coast and is the biggest of the beach communities.
The radio stations here play what they do all around the rest of the country, the same old stuff. I have not had time to to just sit around and listen to the radio, but there doesn't seem to be any new songs being played.

Rush Limbaugh is huge in notoriety and notorious for distortion, poor taste, and mountainous ego.

That is the short list.

While I personally disagree with most of what "Rush" says, and will surely say so on the air myself, I pledge to treat you with great respect and even warmth when you call in on "The Other Side of The Coin" on KPQ radio. (560 on the A M dial)

KPQ airs several other hours of talk radio each day and all of them are hosted by Republican thinkers of the conservative persuasion. Very persuaded! Our show stand alone as one from the "Other Side of The Coin" in that regard. Hear it each Wednesday at 3 PM and again on Saturday evening at 6.

Howard Stern is a radio "shock jock". In fact, he's the guy that more or less created that label. And a lot of people detest him for it. Me? Why should I detest the man for knowing his audience?

He knew there was a market for acting the way he does on radio. Strippers, plastic surgeons that point out every flaw on a woman, and endless fart jokes all apparently have a place on the radio, because his ratings haven't suffered yet.

...I don't know if I'd ever leave the shower. They'd have to pry the glistening, metallic showerhead from my pruned fingers. I've always been a big fan of the shower which is an understatement on par with saying that Hitler was a disagreeable little fellow with a funny moustache. Actually, now that I think about it, if he had been as easily pacified by a shower as I am, he likely might have been a more stable atom.
