Abortion | baby | family | parent | pregnancy

The word is a controversial one, so much that it can’t be brought up without some sort of rhetorical discussion following. Legalized after the landmark decision of Roe vs. Wade in 1973, abortion is just one option available to women who find themselves faced with an unplanned pregnancy. The choice to go through with a pregnancy, or to terminate it, is a very personal one that can only be made by the woman herself. Adoption is another option that women must consider if they are not sure After she has been counseled regarding abortion facts and information, and has had time to familiarize herself with the pros and cons of medical and surgical procedures, she can make the best choice based on what is right for her.

When Children Start Punishing Themselves.

children | Discipline | Funny | Kids | life | parent | parenting | parents | people | Punishment | trouble

The other day, I was sitting in my living room, checking my e-mail on my lap top. My eldest daughter was asleep, but my youngest was still running a muck.

As I was sifting through pages of unread e-mail, I heard something that I didn't think I should be hearing, but couldn't quite identify. It was at that precise moment that I further realized that I didn't hear my youngest daughter's very loud, "indoor voices are against my religion", singing, screaming, or random noise-making.

Life In My Space

children | death | family | grandchildren | illness | life | my space | parent | parents | sing | work

I have some other blogs about various things, such as music, reviewing DVD's, one for interactive story telling. but this one I decided to use for my own space. The space that I take up in this world, the air I breathe, me me me me. A place to gripe, cry, complain, and just get things off my chest. So here goes.

I got a call today around noon. It was my mother. She lives about 10 miles from me. I had found out that she was sick from my sister-in-law Friday night. She said she was short of breath and was really couphing quite a bit. I and my sister-law wanted to take her to the hopsital to get her checked out. We had talked about the clinics all being closed and she would not be able to get in until Tuesday after the new year. We then called my sister and told her what we were going to do. She told us she would call mom and then call us back.

My dad

Dad | father | job | parent

I got to thinking about my dad yesterday. I try not to think about him, because it still hurts a lot that he's gone. And I don't know how to phrase it other than a disturbing figurative image, but I am gutting myself here for the whole world to see. Hell of a freak-show circus trick if I can manage it. If you can't take it, don't read it. You have been warned.

It was a song that triggered it. The same song always does. And sadly, it's not the kind of song you want to make you think about someone you loved. See, the song was about suicide. Now, my dad didn't kill himself, but he did try a couple of times. I won't share how he tried, but I will say that everyone in the family knew what was going on, and nobody tried to stop him. Myself included.
