Maybe We Need A Mass Hug

Anger | calm | hugging | murder | violence

Over the last week, a couple of incidents have come to light that makes me think that maybe we, as a world, need to come together for a mass hug.

The first is this video that's been circulating the internet showing, supposedly, a Russian business office of some kind, where suddenly this one guy goes berserk and starts attacking everything, people included. It runs a little over 3 minutes, and there was even a second recording from a different angle that helped show some of what was going on from another perspective. The jury is still out as to whether that was real or not, but to date no one has been able to disprove it.

Tragedy in Princeton, KY

Today, I saw something that just breaks my heart.

Phillip Knee located in Caldwell County, Kentucky, has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend's 10 month old son.

His initial story to police was that he propped the bottle in the baby's mouth and went outside. When he returned, he found the baby not breathing.

Sometimes I Hate People

criminal behavior | cruelty to disabled persons | murder | physical abuse

That's a tough statement to make, but after reading this news story about five people who basically tortured a pregnant, mentally disabled woman to death over a three month period and basically showed no remorse for her death, I just feel sick about what's going on in the world.

A Two-Fer Post; Murder And Mayhem

murder | sadism

There's no way I could only write about one or the other, so I'm putting both of these tragic stories in one post. There are no lessons to be learned here, unfortunately, except that people just need to find a bit more self control.

Keeping The Hulking Boy In Prison

child prosecution | juvenile laws | murder | prison reform

Yeah, this is a good one to move into 5th place in points with.

There's this story about someone named Craig Price. At age 15, he was arrested and sentenced to juvenile prison for killing four people in cold blood. One of the women he stabbed 62 times; another 58 times. Oh yeah, the one stabbed 62 times wasn't really a woman; she was a 10-year old girl. And the kid showed no remorse for anything he'd done; all he complained about was cutting his own hand during one of the attacks.

Step-parents more likely to kill their offspring...

Two Canadian psychologists, Martin Dally and Margo Wilson, have reportedly claimed to have found at least part of the explanation why some parents kill their offspring.

After analysing the records of thousands of thousands of children killed by their parents from medieval to modern times, from cities to jungles, from rich and poor countries, they paid extra close attention to 700 Canadian babies killed by their parents.

The Gun Conversation After Virginia Tech

crime | Crimes against Humanity | Guns | murder | white castle

We've now had almost a week to reflect on the situation in Virginia last week. One of those conversations that's been big has been talking about whether there's enough gun control, whether it should be tighter, or, oddly enough, whether it's the restrictions that caused it.

Ted Nugent, whom we've talked about before, was asked about it by CNN. He said that if every student on that campus had been allowed to carry a gun that there's no way this guy would have been able to kill 32 people. He then went on to write an editorial, saying pretty much the same thing, and bringing up some other incidences where people were able to get their hands on their guns and stop further tragedies from occurring.

Suppressing Anger, Kind Of Part Two

Anger | murder | storm damage

The last post I actually made at BlogFeast talked about how I'm always working on suppressing anger at some of the stupid things people do.

Anyone in America who isn't angry at what happened yesterday in Blacksburg, Virginia has no real soul. It was hard enough going to bed hearing that the killer took his own life, because there's someone I would have loved to see take his chances in prison. It's tough this morning hearing that there's a possibility that there's another shooter who might have gotten away.
