You live and you learn. Now that is one of the truest things you will ever hear in your life if nothing else! Especially with babies. Because I would've sworn I knew it all. Until my daughter came into my life.

Six months ago I had my first child, which lead to to quitting my full time job as a Dental Assistant. I didn't want to go back to work and just leave my precious newborn in the hands of a stranger at some daycare all day.

Mother’s Day is Coming
Have you started shopping for Mother’s Day yet? It’s right around the corner. But this gas station around the corner from where I live has had their Mother’s Day gifts out for the last two months. I think they even had them out before Valentine’s Day.

Well, now that the new year has officially begun, I have tried to come up with a new project for myself. As if I dont have enough small projects around my house that I really need to finish, I am now going to dive into a major, (at least to me it's major) project of writing a biography of my mother's life.

So we never have really gotten down the introduction to a blog. Im Aaren, and my mom is Diana. Im 18 and shes 43. We've blogged together for quite some time. A lot of people read our blogs to see both ends of the story. We touch on basic topics, politics, and the top headlines. Also, quick explination for the name Monumental Basement, its to describe our blog. The differences in our opinions. For the first blog my mom picked the topic.

'Hate' is misleading, inaccurate and too heavy in its sense yet it is the word I will use, the word that I choose to wrap and sheath myself with. For hours, I've been calling the demon voices that act as my guide to give me strength but no one answers, where are they when you need them?

Your children spend a good part of their growing years in school. A good mom cheers their children along from the sidelines. A GREAT mom runs right along with them.
If you have chosen to homeschool your children , support them by going to conferences, keeping in contact with local school districts about changing laws, and Connecting with other local homeschoolers. If your children are in public or private schools, get to know the teachers and school board. As your schedule allows, volunteer to help out in the classroom. You can read for the class, bake cookies, help with parties, or go on field trips with the class. Look at your children's textbooks so you have an idea of what they are learning and be prepared to help them with their homework.

5'3 and weighs 49 kls. thats me, I'm Asian. I try to be pretty for most times. Early on ,these words and thoughts came out from my mom's mouth and I tried very hard to understand why: She said when a person is SHORT in height she'll never be beautiful, she can be cute but never beautiful, one needs to be tall and have a great body to be beautiful and a great body doesn't count when you are short.

I went to the hospital this morning and saw my mom. I had called my sister-in-law on my way there because she was going to meet me. We walked into the room and mama was awake and watching TV. She smiled as we walked in so I think she was happy to see us. We asked her how she was and she said she hadn't slept all night long. Apparently one of the drugs they are giving her has a steroid in it and one of the side effects is uncontrolable shaking. She proved this to us when she sat up in the bed and was trying to get a bite of ice out of a cup with a spoon and lost most of her ice while trying to get it to her mouth. We laughed, as did she. She thought it was funny too. She said it was annoying and that before we had gotten there she had actually spilled the ice all over the floor. She had again commented also on the fact that she didn't get any sleep due to the shaking. She had asked the nurse for something but they had to talk to the Dr before they could give her anything to help her sleep.

flowers | gifts | mom | Mother's Day
Mother's Day is around the corner. Don't procrastinate when it comes to sending flowers! Let me tell you what happened to me last year. The Friday before Mother's Day I attempted to send my mom flowers. I was unsuccessful. Not only were the prices unbelievable, but all the floral arrangements that she would have liked were sold out!
My mom did a lot for my sisters and me. My Dad worked many hours to pay for Catholic school tuition for the three of us. Because of this, my mom was alone most of the time, caring for us. She took us everywhere and that's probably why I did and do the same with my kids! When the alleged Prince Charming made his exit, my mother came to watch my children so that I could work and pay off all the debt HE left me with. I would drive back to the city on the weekends so that we could attend church and prepare everything for my Dad's work week. That's sacrifice! That's why I love my parents so much. I can only hope my kids appreciate me as much as I appreciate my parents.

Mother's Day Is May 14!
Most of us have a treasury of nice memories of our mothers. Even those of us who do not usually had some type mother figure in our lives who provided us with a safe haven, a comforting shoulder to cry on, and good advice when we needed to make a difficult decision. Perhaps a sister, aunt, grandmother, neighbor, or even a close friend.
It may surprise you to know that the woman who is responsible for Mother’s Day was never a mother, herself, but she was a daughter who loved her own mother dearly.
