Oh man, where do I start on this one.....

Well, ashamed as I should be to admit it, I do take in all of the reality (reality my ass) shows that have to do with the modeling world. Perhaps I'm attracted to this offal because I've been a part of the Industry for over 8 years now and I'm apparently also a glutton for punishment. So it is what it is, and I shouldn't complain about how AWFUL ANTM is, but I am gonna rant about it because why the heck not?!

Okay, okay, okay....I know I should feel awful about not posting on here in ages, but life has taken a turn for the absolutely crazy and I thought I wouldn't have time to write here anymore.

But because my life is crazy (and not the rockstar fun crazy that it used to be) and I really have no time or money for therapy, I have decided to tamper with the title of my blog and turn it into "Confessions of a Model Mom" and use this space as therapy....writing down the madness that swirls around in my gob always has seemed to help.....at least it's kept me from turning into a complete and blithering idiot or padded cell tenant.

Ok, so my new guilty pleasure is writing in my new blog. I am having so much fun scrounging up old photo albums and modeling pictures, and outlining my trips and memories! Although I have to admit, it is all kinda making me suffer from a bit of melancholy.....

I just wish this blogging thing wasn't so time consuming, since I end up spending WAY too many hours on the computer between Peacocks, BP and blogitive of course......time I could be spending lounging on the couch...and trust me, I need all the lounging I can get!

I am gonna start a whole new and seperate blog about my experiences as a model. I had initially intended this blog to have a lot more of those stories in it, but it has become more of a mommy blog and a ranting/therapy session for me and I kinda like it like that. So a new and more fashion and travel focused blog must be created!

I had also wanted to write a book of my memoirs, believe me, I have some stories to tell and pictures to post......but after several (and I must admit, half-assed) attempts to round up a literary agent, I have given up on that idea for the time being. My new blog will take the place of the book. I just have so many stories to tell that just normally sit around in my head and I want to finally put them down on paper.....or screen. :-P I dunno....just think it'll be fun to share.

I have never given much thought or credit to the superstitions attached to Friday the 13th before.....and then today happened.

First of all, my son was on even more of a hyper drive than usual. Incessantly vociferous and moving about the house like a roadrunner on speed. It was dizzying to say the least, especially since I had a mountain of laundry to do and a very dirty house to clean while keeping an eye and ear on him at all times.

Well, I'm getting ready to submit my digital photos to my agencies to see if I can do some maternity work in the next 6 months. It'll be nice to line my pockets a bit before baby number two makes his or her grand debut into the world. Although I know that once those 6 weeks of no excercise are up, I'll be back to my workout DVD's trying to get back into shape and back into the market. One kid is expensive.....

Hmmmm.....I have all these symptoms, wonder what could be wrong with me? I'm nauseous day & night, have incredible indigestion & bloating issues, am irritable to the point where I consider myself Super Bitch with a cape & tights on, my lower back aches especially when I am trying to sleep at night....and I have to pee 1,000 times a day.

Yep...I'm knocked up. I'll be at the end of my first trimester tomorrow, and have been having the most uncomfortable and morning sickness filled pregnancy ever. When I was pregnant with my son it was so easy, didn't get any sort of discomfort until the end of my third trimester when I was ready to pop, had the baby pushing up against my lungs so it was tedious to breathe, and had to pee about 5,000 times a day. I got pornstar boobs, and that was it. No nausea, just slight food aversions the first trimester, and that was it.

Oooooh, I love the show on Discovery Health called Runway Moms. It's my new TV show fave, and follows other models around NY as they go on castings and bookings.....only thing is that they are pregnant!

Pregnancy seems to be more popular now than ever, thanks to all the celebs that are giving birth left & right, which has led to a lot of new and amazing clothing designs for moms-to-be. Just because you are expecting doesn't mean you have to wear a huge floral mumu anymore! These designers, like Liz Lange, are making clothes that aren't only comfy but also really attractive and can even be used post partum.

A while ago, I wrote an entry about how my dog was "destined for stardom" based on the fact that she did some modeling for the opening to a television show. This has been a really good 7 days for me work-wise. Surprisingly enough there is a burgeouning and very good, albeit small, fashion scene in Portland. I did a fashion show last week to benefit Basic Rights Oregon and got to work with three amazing local designers....Jonny Shultz, Magali Corzo, and Sofada. Their clothes were to die for.

Today I got to shoot in a magical peacock blue gown made entirely of paper....yes paper! And I was made up to look like a mermaid/butterfly hybrid. A girlhood fantasy of mine come true.

I have decided to write a book. After finding old emails and journals while Spring cleaning my house and reading all that I had written during my four years spent traveling for work in the fashion industry, I have become inspired to put together all of my memoirs and turn them into a book.

Along with my own experiences, adventures and foibles, I want to include stories contributed by my close group of friends who traveled to all of the same places as I did......making this book something of an anthology of memoirs. Middle Model Memoirs.....And luckily, I have been able to get the majority of my friends to join in on the endeavor, with the exception of the few who are pen shy.

Yesterday I was cleaning out some old files when I found a notebook with the rough drafts of emails I used to send out to my friends recapping my adventures during my modeling seasons. These emails became known to my friends and family as "the end of season chronicles", and the flood of emotions & memories that came rushing over me while I read these put me in a bittersweet, melancholy funk for the rest of the day. I have not watched MTV's new reality show, "8th & Ocean", but when I first started hearing about the show, I immediately was able to deduce that the agency the show was based on was Irene Marie because, well, simply put it is located on 8th and Ocean Drive in Miami Beach.....actually Wet Willies, the margarita bar is on 8th & Ocean and Irene Marie is a few buildings down if I remember correctly.

My favorite part of MTV's 8th & Ocean is probably Sabrina and Kelly. Their sibling rivalry is just so interesting to watch. Even though Kelly and Sabrina are identical, they don't look like it to me. Kelly seems more relaxed and sure of her self. She likes to gloat about gigs she's gotten and even tries to give her sister Sabrina her leftovers.

Sabrina lives in her sister's shadow. Imperfect skin and all. Even her face looks older. Sabrina deals with a lot of insecurities, even though I think she could be just as good a model as her sister Kelly.
