Too Far (A Short Story)

(This is a work of fiction--aren't all short stories? And this is my first attempt to write one. Critics are very much welcome, though, please be gentle. Enjoy!)

“No, not again…” Paul said to himself as he watched a familiar figure with a menacing smile on its face walk past him. In front of him was a huge pile of debris of huge chunks of concrete and twisted steel. Underneath it, the dead body of his tormenting boss.

Carry On, Jeeves

This comedy fiction is made up of eight stories, all written by P.G. Wodehouse (1881 – 1975). He was born in Surrey England and eventually became an American citizen in 1955.

“From the moment Jeeves glides into Bertie Wooster’s life, providing him with a magical hangover cure, Bertie knows he has found the gentleman’s gentleman. Jeeves saves the chronically befuddled Bertie from every jam, even going so far as to follow him to the wilds of New York City.”

Untitled - Chapter One - Aiden and the Lions

Once there was a young boy named Aiden who lived in a large city. He liked his city very much, although he wasn't sure why. In the winter, it was very cold and in the summer it was very hot with very little rain, so because of this, the streets in his city were bumpy and cracked, and the grass very dry and was rarely green. It was one of Aiden's chores to water and weed the lawn around his family's house. He didn't enjoy chores very much but he did, for some reason, enjoy taking care of the lawn.

Screams in the night

I used to live in a very, very small town in Kentucky. In Kentucky, not all towns are the blink and you can miss them type. This town was very spread out. There are not a whole lot of houses close together. When you look out your window, all you can see are trees and countryside. There was not a main street in this town. Just one seasonal gas station.

And the law enforcement was not modernized. The police station was at least ten minutes away. You won't catch a cop patroling the neighborhoods. They seem to want to stick close to the station in a neighboring town.

Centaur - The Baba arrives

Dadi sat in the sun, watching Ratan and Jai walk off up the valley and disappear over the hill. She was feeling restless, and decided to go to her favourite spot near the stream to sit. She walked along the cowdung covered track to the stream.

The stream was a meeting point for the ladies of the village. A common working area, where washing utensils, clothes and even having baths was less a chore for the company. No one was there. Of course, the filling of water was done, and the women were busy with the morning cooking and cleaning, before they would come to the stream for the washing.

I'm finally beginning to write a story that has been playing on my mind for a very long time. Who knows, if it goes well, I might make a book out of it.

There was a village in a remote corner of the Himalaya. A truly blessed land surrounded by mountains, high altitude pastures and a sparkling stream that provided crystal clear and refreshingly cold water to the cluster of stone and wood homes that was the village Tiring.

I couldn't help noticing that at any given time there seem to be only several members on the site but a very large number of guests... This leads me to believe that there are a lot of people out there looking for... who knows what?

As someone who both loves to write and also enjoys writing challenges, I am prepared to tackle a great deal. Just let me know what it is you are looking for and I will write it as a blog. Give me a few days and I should be able to find several to several hundred words for you. Perhaps you are looking for a short short story about a certain character or situation? Maybe you'd like a sketch of your life as you wish it to be someday. How about some "free" advice from someone who is a little wiser from both screwing up and having been screwed over? How about a poem on a certain theme? Let me know what your favorite form is: sonnet, lyric or how about some of your life story retold in moving doggerel?

Friday, October 13th is Horror Day!

Throughout history special events and moments of great significance have peppered the landscape of our calendar year. We pay tribute to days as jubilant as the birth of Christ on December 25th and as heart wrenching as Patriot Day, September 11th. These days hold such power that they stir our deepest emotions and color the cloth that is the fabric of our being. But to paraphrase an old cliché: Every demon must have his day. Thus, the Horror Writer’s Association has dubbed Friday, October 13th a national day of Horror!

Connecting with Fiction: Will it Change Your Life?

Have you ever read a book, or seen a movie or a show and when it was finished you couldn’t speak. Not that it was breath taking or so incredibly touching that you couldn’t put it into words, no not that. More like you’re still there and you don’t want to leave. You never want to leave because that book, movie or show could have been your life, you want it to be your life. You keep the character’s, your character’s, emotions in you. You hold on to their hurt, their joy, their losses and gains because you want them to be your hurt, joy, loss and pain. Then when a real person starts talking to you, they drag you out, they drag you into reality. All you can do is half cling to the world inside of you, hoping they’ll leave you alone and hoping you can keep the other world close enough to return to, because sometimes when you loose it you can’t go back. Reality isn’t always that bad, sometimes it’s great, but its not where you want to be, it’s not who you want to be.

Reading and Writing Fiction

Reading and writing fiction are a passion of mine. Sometimes I have a problem with finishing what I am writing, I don't seem to have the same trouble with reading.

My favourite fiction is thrillers, particularly noire thrillers with a private eye. They have fascinated me ever since I first read Chandler years and years ago. I like the way character is so important in these books, and also place.

My First Review

Aside from the relentless blogging, I spend a great deal of my time writing in different medias. I have published articles, reviews, interviews, and some short fiction. Recently I published a short story available as a PDF from http://www.silven.com. They produce role playing material mostly but set out to tackle the fiction market. Sales were slow, as to be expeced but the feedback was pathetic. I wondered if anyone actually read the story or lined their hamster's cage with it.

Good day folks posting up the first page of the story I am gonna write about my dream. Normally I will not post so little but right now I want opinios of writing style so comment...please ^_^.

Lavish dresses exploded outward in bursts of brightly colored fabric, as nobles spun and twirled across the dance floor. Men in tight form fitting brightly colored suits shifted quickly around the spinning vibrant women of the dance floor, their faces hidden by multicolored featureless duck billed masks. Prince Lucien Heart, and an entourage of beautiful women danced amidst the chaos soaking in the bright light, and drowning in the waves of fast paced orchestra.
