Well folks, there have been many things in the news and the papers that frankly do not make one bit of sense to me. But hey I don't make up these silly ideas, I will leave that up to the "brilliant people" of society.

On October 17, 2006, Habeas Corpus died in Washington, D.C. after a long, losing battle against George W. Bush. Habeas Corpus had fought off Bush since 2001, and recent pressure applied by Congress proved to be too much. Habeas Corpus was pronounced dead late in the morning.
Habeas Corpus was born in 1215 with the historic signing of the Magna Carta, a document that was prompted by a massive English uprising against the King. The King, being cornered by the angry peasants, was forced to sign in to law basic human freedoms that would be given to all citizens. Habeas Corpus was among those provisions.
New Shirt Design Offends Some.
Submitted by theepiczone on October 5, 2006 - 7:02am. Abortion | current events | funny shirts | Issues | offensive | offensive shirts | supportA web site is now offering T-Shirts that say "I support abortion." These shirts are said to offend some, but I really don't see a problem with it. I feel it's perfectly fine for people to mention these things and support what they believe in. Afterall, if all of the pro-lifers can stand there and block the streets whining about their problems than people should be allowed to buy this shirt and wear it in public.

An Index to The Run Down: Entertainment for September, 2006.
September is one of the shortest months on the calendar, but man, has it been a long one for the entertainment world! And I have hardly even scratched the surface of the new season shows (and there are several good ones!)... Anna Nicole's tragi-comic travails alone have spanned the globe, on both land and sea, and included all the biggies: love and marriage, death and birth, drugs and overdoses. But aside from her, September was the month for celebrity arrests -- especially DUIs!
A True Puppet Regime
Submitted by Barely Awake In... on May 15, 2006 - 7:54am. bush | current events | Funny | global politics | leadership | puppets | random thoughts | schemeI've given this idea a considerable amount of thought (which is probably something I should give considerable thought), but I think that the world needs one more country with a puppet regime and I'd like to be the one to install it. No, I have no experience in this field, yet I have an innovative twist that I would introduce to shake up this tired endeavor.
Real puppets. Is that an oxymoron of some kind? Nevertheless...
Inhumanity in Darfur
Submitted by jwensink on April 26, 2006 - 4:04pm. current events | Darfur | SudanI was watching Oprah today, and was shocked by her commentary on the situation in Darfur, Sudan. We have been hearing about it in the news for quite a while, yet I didn't fully realize the extent of the horrors there until today.
Between 180,000 and 300,000 people have died in that region, and an estimated 1.8 million people are displaced from their homes. If they are lucky, the people reside in a refugee camp. Some need to travel for 19 days on a mule just to get to a camp. The children in the area are not safe at night. There is a danger of rebels coming into the village at night to kidnap children for soldiers or sex slaves. In order to stay safe, the children walk for hours in the night to arrive at a fenced in area where they are safe from the rebels. Others pile on top of each other to sleep on the floor of a hospital. The film footage was horrible to see. These people are living in a hellish situation because of their religious beliefs and ethnicity.
Dick Cheney, Burgess Meredith, And Clubber Lang
Submitted by Barely Awake In... on April 2, 2006 - 6:59pm. Burgess Meredith | current events | Dick Cheney | humor | irreverent | Mr. T | pop culture | random musingsA few days ago, I pulled up the web site for MSNBC and was greeted by the sullen mug of Dick Cheney, looking as grim as ever (has there ever existed a more dour and joyless human being?). Accompanying the photo were headlines, promises of dire consequences directed at Iran. My first reaction was that he was considering taking the country hunting, but I immediately dismissed that idea as impractical. Really, I know that they do manufacture some obscenely large SUVs, but one that could hold an entire country...not yet.
Ruthless Protesting, Stop Spitting On Their Graves
Submitted by Ivy Alexander on March 28, 2006 - 11:28pm. CNN | current events | debate | Iraq | life | Military | news | opinion | politics | Religion | war | worldI am angry, I am pissed! I have been holding this in for a week, hoping this anger would soon fade away. Nope. It doesn’t work that way.
I will not express at this time how I feel about the war. All my usual opinions do not count today. Because this is not about the war or the right to protest. This is about being so disgustingly disrespectful that I scream when I speak of this.
Americans protesting at the funerals of our soldiers. Yelling profanity at the families of these men and woman who served OUR country. Waving signs with Gods name on them and spitting on their graves. How dare anyone judge another human being, believe me their judgement will reflect on their actions of today.
VIRGINS?!
Submitted by Barely Awake In... on March 26, 2006 - 6:55pm. current events | fundamentalists | Funny | martyrdom | sex | terrorists | virginsSo, if I'm following the plot, the main hook of martyrdom (as it relates to terrorists) is the bounty of door prizes that accompanies it. And, I hear, the sizzle that sells the steak in this deal is the promise of an afterlife hook-up with a gaggle of virgins. Right? I know that I've read the number, but I can't recall right now (and I'm too lazy to research it). For sake of argument, let's say a dozen since it works so well for donuts.
Freedom of Religion violated
Submitted by jwensink on March 24, 2006 - 5:28am. Afghanistan | christianity | current events | freedom of religionA Christian man in Afghanistan awaits a decision about his life- to execute or not. The death penalty is part of the Islam law for anyone who leaves the Islam faith and becomes Christian. This man in Afghanistan may lose his life for becoming a Christian 16 years ago and leaving the Islam faith.
Our American troops are still there fighting for the freedoms for the Afghan people, yet this persecution persists.

Is It Possible To Be An Informed Global Citizen Without Losing Your Mind?
Submitted by Barely Awake In... on March 21, 2006 - 5:17pm. conflict | current events | debate | Media | terrorismRecently, someone wrote a blog discussing stress management and terrorism, leading to me pondering something that has often crossed my mind since 9/11. How valuable is it to be aware of the myriad of issues and compexities regarding global terrorism assuming there is little any one individual can do to affect change? (which is a completely separate debate).
The DaVinci Code trial
Submitted by jwensink on March 21, 2006 - 6:02am. court trials | current events | DaVinci Code40 million copies of The DaVinci Code have been sold by Random House publishing house. Later this year, a blockbuster movie will be released, already causing a tidal wave of controversy. Yet, for all of the hubub concerning the DaVinci code, a court case is in progress in England that could turn everything upside down.
Dan Brown, the author of The DaVinci Code, is being sued for infringing on copyright laws by the authors of a book, The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail. The assertion is that Dan Brown lifted parts of the previously published book to include as his own. Even though he reworked the parts, he is still infringing on the copyright laws. This is a high stakes case where the authors of The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail could stand to lose $4 million. So, authors beware of infringing on copyright and know the law.

They fought 35 m.p.h. winds and sub-zero temperatures for the joy in running and the challenge of the adventure.
Website Review-www.dogster.com
Submitted by randomsun on March 13, 2006 - 5:07am. current events | Funny | humor | website reviewIf the name of the blog does not explain it all then let me explain it. What do you get when you take a myxangbooquster like oh, hmmmm, how about Friendster and add dog's into the equation. Yes, that's right... Dogster. Think I'm kidding. I really wish I was. Now I've heard about people create myspace profilesfor their dogs or cats as jokes but this is a whole site devoted to such behavior. Personallu, I think it's bad enough that's there are oven baked with real lamb frozen meals for your dog. But do you really think that your dog is going to care about that hot other dog s/he saw at the park that day you were walking her/him. Come on world, let's start thinking. I guess we'll soon be seeing Dogbook or Dogspace in the near future. Actually, no, I guarantee we will because I am now going to teach myself how to develop sites so I can capitalize on this. (shakes head and sighs)
