I decided to start a short series on communications. It is the #1 reason why websites succeed, and others fail.
A new buzz word entered the business world a few years ago, toxic communication. We use to believe that venting emotions, gossip, casual talk about the competition, or using our words as a weapon, were harmless, victimless. It took the advertising world to teach us that every word is a two edged sword.

HOW DID THE WEEKEND TO END BREAST CANCER GET STARTED?
Brian: There are tons of different fundraising events like the Weekend to End Breast Cancer in the United States but nothing like it in Canada. CauseForce wanted to do a strictly Canadian fundraiser and in 2002, we convinced the Princess Margaret Hospital to try us out for one year. We said we'd raise $8 million and we raised $12.7 million. It was the single largest Canadian fundraiser ever. After our first year in Toronto, word spread and other hospitals and cities started calling and asking for more info. Then we began to roll out to other cities.

When planning a big project like a new worship center, children's center or church relocation, having a master plan is the key to success. A master plan is a comprehensive analysis of long-term ministry strategies and how they interface with your land and development strategies.

Consider that there is an estimated 97 million people within the United States and Canada have access to the internet- which is about 30 percent of the total population. Almost everyone with a computer and internet access has an email account, and yet, many non-profit organizations do not make it part of their marketing strategy to collect email addresses from their members, donors, or activists! Most non-profit or conservation organizations have attracted a large group of people who believe in the cause of the organization enough to become dues-paying members or otherwise support the issues. Most nonprofits are communicating with their members with mail, phone or fax- but very few are using the email effectively and they are missing a huge opportunity to reach out to current and future members to become a more powerful non-profit organization.

Coffee: What Are The Health Benefits?
by: Aaron Matthews Morgan
If you are a coffee drinker, you no doubt have asked yourself how much coffee is it safe for you to consume on a daily basis. This is not surprising since so much has been blamed on coffee. Heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis, you name it. At one time or another, coffee has been made to blame. Coffee has joined the ranks of red wine and chocolate as a guilty pleasure that may actually be good for you. As much as it is a great way to get that fix in the morning, recent studies have shown that coffee has been found to be rich in antioxidants and contains hundreds of pain-relieving and anti-bacterial compounds. Although one should not drink coffee with wild abandon, it's comforting to know that maybe that cup or two in the morning may be good for you. That's a lot of coffee!

Cuba is famed for its beaches, diving, lifestyle and dancing. But one aspect of the Cuban holiday which is often overlooked is the Cuban cuisine, which is unfortunate because the mixture of cultures combine to make a truly unique combination of flavours and textures.
