Nelson Mandela, the former South African president, is in London for the week to celebrate his 90th birthday. He is set to attend an outdoor concert that is in his honor in Hyde Park on this coming Friday. The performances will include Queen, Annie Lennox, Leona Lewis, and the Soweto Gospel Choir. Amy Winehouse will also perform if her doctors say that it is okay for her to do so. The proceeds from the concert will go to 46664 charity, which is the AIDS charity named after the number Mandela wore while he was imprisoned by South Africa’s apartheid authorities.

Which Race We Talking About?

She finished with head held high, but she was quite injured and subsequently euthanized on the track.
Young naive political views may cause a downfall in our country
Submitted by b26g116 on April 26, 2008 - 6:52am. clinton | country | debate | Democrat | downfall | McCain | Obama | political | politics | RepublicanIn the local events of the past several months to a year - or so it seems, I have begun to realize that people are more affected than I ever thought. The debates between political runners is down right rude and I can't see anything good coming out of this. Obama only gets young people because he has celebrities putting money in his pocket and using it as an advance for themselves in their careers. His entire "show" as a leader has been self-serving and underhanded. Asking him questions only gets run-around answers. Why won't he pledge allegiance to the United States, wear a U.S. flag, or put his hand on a Bible? Will we ever get real answers, or will it be too late before someone wakes up and really sees what is going on? I hope it doesn't get as far as the White House to find out we have an evil dictoral president. This man, well let's just say my gut doesn't trust him one bit.
Is it time for America to Elect an Affirmative action President?
Submitted by American Rhetor... on April 21, 2008 - 10:53am. 2008 election | affirmative action | bush | clinton | Democrat | McCain | Obama | RepublicanI am getting a bit tired of this election season. I have heard all of the wrangling and have listened to Obama say "ummm" and "uhhhhh" enough that I have realized he and Bush really do have something in common.
Hate from the pulpit
Submitted by American Rhetor... on March 18, 2008 - 7:23am. clinton | Democrat | Discrimi | election | Gay | hate | Obama | politics | Presidency | Religion | white/BlackObama is having a hard time explaining his involvement in a church where the preacher has been notoriously preaching hate against the white community.
These comments are not new to the black community or the white community. Both races have been guilty of preaching such dogma and hate. The difference here is that Obama is running for the highest office in the world, the President of the United States of America. For Obama to claim that he had no knowledge of Reverend Wright’s speaking of such things is ridiculous. He attended this church for over 20 years. His children were taught by this preacher and he and his wife were married by this preacher. To claim now that he had “no knowledge” of this offensive language is obviously misleading.

Some Sweet Thoughts of Bush, And Clinton (by BigBadJohnny)

George Bush
Readers, take note! Where I am at, it's Wednesday, September 27, 2006. It's "hump day" ! I think I'll review some of my recent thoughts.
This first piece, I wrote, as Bush was going to Iraq to celebrate the new Iraqi government, whose installment was highly Americanized.
I miss Clinton.
Submitted by IntricateGirl on August 22, 2006 - 2:27pm. clinton | Conservative | liberal | politics | vicesI'm not really a person that indulges in many vices. I tend to use a little too much hair dye, and I love shoes, purses, jewelry, and fashion. I do drive a little too fast, but I try to keep it less than 10 over (which actually makes me slower than most people on the road). And my music is a little too loud sometimes. But for your typical vices, I am a boring person.
Let this serve as my confession. I had a drink about 6 months ago. I last smoked about 4 years ago, and even then, it was plain tobacco. I don't really sit around and look at porn on a regular basis. And I really don't go in for gambling.
Oprah for Vice President in 2008?
Submitted by realitycheck on July 21, 2006 - 8:57pm. clinton | debate | election | Oprah | presidentI was watching the news tonight and I saw a story about Hillary Clinton asking Oprah to be her running mate for the 2008 election. Then I turn on this show called Scarborogh Country and they're debating it! What do you think of this?
According to SC, Oprah actually could pull in tons of votes because she is so popular. People really do trust her and she has so much control of the media.
Of the Coalition of the Wanton
Submitted by o ceallaigh on May 17, 2006 - 7:15am. clinton | fundamentalism | infidelity | O Ceallaigh: Science Belief and Society | sexI just came over from another site, where the feature of the day is a gentleman who is telling the saga of his extramarital affair. No I won't. You'll have to look this one up for yourselves. I'm sure a quick search will give you any number of examples from which to choose. And, in case you couldn't tell, I'm not terribly happy about this.
What, am I a red state reactionary? Please. (Am I the only one to see the irony in the use of the color red for states adhering to Bushism?) Am I a prude? Possibly, but I don't really feel like one. My Puritan forebears (mother's side) would have had my God-forsaken carcass rotting in the stocks long ago.
