Abuse – is it an excuse?

I’ve read it often. I see it written and heard it in the media, as if someone should be excused for his/her behaviour because they were abused.

Thousands, probably millions, of people were abused as children. Despite our laws and all sorts of political and community brains have worked in various ways to make changes so that there is less abuse, it continues. Unfortunately, there is a perception that there is more violence, more people in trouble, and the excuse is “he/she was abused as a child.�
