Do you watch the Olympics? I do. I like to try and watch all the events but this year I'm going to pay special attention to the Men's USA Basketball Team. I like the team they have put together this year and I think they have a good chance of winning the gold.

The former NBA basketball player Dennis Rodman has decided to plead no contest to a misdemeanor charge of spousal battery in a Superior Court appearance on Tuesday. There were two other counts that were dismissed under a plea deal. He was arrested at a Los Angeles hotel in April after a woman, named Gina Peterson, stated that he struck her during an altercation.

Being a basketball fan I love to watch my favorite teams games on television. Just a few years ago I could watch all of their playoff games on TV when they would show the games on NBC. Now, you have to have cable to see these games as TNT has taken over the NBA Playoff games.

I played in a fantasy sports league this year for the first time. I played in a basketball league. I thought it would be real simple. You pick the players you want but there is a salary cap which means that you can't load your team with nothing but all the best players. The #1 Wisconsin Badgers lost a big chance to stand alone as the team to beat come tourney time with a lost to Michigan State. The badgers looked tired and listless as the Spartans battled them back and forth during the entire game and finaly taking a lead with 2 minutes left and the badgers could'nt hang with them. Not being able to sink 3 pointers and tucker not driving to the hoop and drawing the fouls kept the badgers from winning one that would have sent them to Ohio on saturday with a full head of steam. Now comes the big game must win for Wisconsin to slam the door on Ohio to be the big ten champions. It will be a great game to watch and more than likely the best of the season for fans of BIG TEN BASKETBALL.

Vanderbilt slays another giant, this time it was the all powerful and cocky Florida. Florida has been flirting with disaster for the past several games and it was bound to catch up to them eventually. Dodging a near disaster against Alabama, Florida came out to play with flat feet and 22 turnovers - missed shots that they normally make and a lack luster performance by the normally self centered and cocky Joakim Noah to lose a - not even close game to a very confident and team oriented Vanderbilt.

WOW what a saturday of basketball! With the upset win by North Carolina State over # 3 North Carolina the polls should be a rockin on monday. McCauley and Atsur brought their A game to the upset and played some of the best nitty gritty ball that we've seen all year.

The one blemish on this game was the OBVIOUSE half hearted wimpy punch that was thrown by Hansbrough of NC, don't care if it landed or not - don't care if it was a frustration punch - his ass should have been pointed to the exit sign, period."

WOW what a night of basketball! #2 Wisconsin drops one at Indiana,#1 Florida fiddles with disaster. Wisconsins loss at Indiana was one that should'nt have gotten away, it seemed like the only player that showed up to play was Orlando Tucker,the rest of the team just came along for the ride. The last few games have been that way for Wisconsin, it seems like their waiting for Tucker to win the game for them and it's not going to happen."

I've come to the conclusion that the sports "pollsters" are so bias that we will never get an honest opinion as to the rankings of the different teams we follow. If you live on the east coast you can bet on the east coast pollers leaning your way - same on the west coast. Theres times i wonder if they think that we're that blind or just plain stupid. The games are getting better, the teams are getting tighter and the excitement is getting higher!! After watching the Iowa vs Wisonsin game - I gotta tell ya the badgers are going to be a tough one to BEAT!! If the badgers can tighten up the ball handling and give certain players a little more zest they will be unbeatable come tournament time. Coach Ryan has a handle on giving his stable of players the right moves to come away with a win.

The NBA Champion was crowned last night. Unfortunately I did not have a chance to write about it today. Where there’s a will, there isn’t always a way nowadays. Anyways, as anyone who reads my blog knows, I picked Dallas to win. I was wrong. I admit it. But what have we learned here. Numero uno: Pat Riley is a great coach. Now I knew he was a very good coach, but he did most of his damage with the showtime Lakers of the 80’s. I was still a twinkle in my father’s eye back then. He had some good years with the Knicks and in his first stint as the Heat coach, but he didn’t win anything. When you don’t win, it tends not to matter how good you really are. Today, Dwayne Wade is everyone’s vote getter for best player in the league. A month ago he was just very good.

Although hockey’s post season is arguably the greatest and most exciting, I have not watched much. But last night was different. Last night was Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. In realty, you have to watch the game that decides it all in any sport, especially a game 7. Due to living on the west coast, my lengthy commute from work, and an errand or two, when I walked in the house the second period was coming to a close. The Carolina Hurricanes were leading 2 goals to none.

So I have taken another week off from posting an entry. I decided that since we are in the thick of the NHL and NBA finals, the U.S. Open, and the World Cup, it is only right that I give you guys something.

My my, how things have changed. A few days ago it seemed like it was only a matter of time before the NBA and NHL champions would be crowned. Since falling down 2 games to none, the Edmonton Oilers have reeled off 2 out of 3, keeping their championship aspirations alive. This includes a game 5 overtime victory, the winning goal scored by Fernando Pisani. He was quoted as saying it’s probably the biggest goal he had ever scored. Gee, ya think?

I know it is not right. And, for one as sophisticated as I, there is a touch of shame involved in this self-disclosure. Yet, I must shed my burden so that I am able to be the proverbial 'all that I can be.'

I love basketball. I am addicted, and I have no qualms about acknowledging the fact that I am addicted. There. I said it. My name is deorre and I am a basketballic.

That said, I can now focus my attention on the playoffs that are in process. Dallas and Miami. Superstars, role players, and millionaires. Quite a soup, I say. Oh yes, and that testosterone-driven thing called competition.
