Symptoms and Stages of Post Natal Mood Disorder

- Chronic exhaustion...which does not go away even if you get a good night's sleep
- Early waking or trouble sleeping- even when the baby is sleeping
- Extreme irritability, frustration or angry feelings
- Feelings of hoplessness or no hope for the future
- Excessive sadness and crying for no reason
- Feelings of shame and despair- this will never go away and I must be a weak person.
- Overwhelming feelings of guilt or worthlessness- you are a terrible mother and a burden to the family
- Difficulty concentrating or remembering things
- Excessive worrying and ruminating- can't shut off mind, spinning thoughts
- Inability to cope- everything is too much, looks huge
- Appetite disturbances: weight loss or gain
- Hot sweats and other bizarre bodily symptoms
- Inability to enjoy everyday pleasures
- Excessive worries about your baby's health or your own health
- No interest or pleasure in the baby
- Scary or dark thoughts about harming your baby or self
- Post partum grief and losses- loss as an individual, loss of self esteem, loss of time for self.

If you feel that you are going thru some of these post partum stages please talk to someone about it, this is not something that will go away.
