Nothing- I mean “nothing� sounds sweeter than that little beep that emits from the time clock on Friday afternoon as you punch out for the day. There are plenty of sweet sounds mind you, giggling children, soothing waterfalls, and songbirds, to name a few. But none can compare to that low-tone beep after a long week at work.

I’ve watched people swipe their time card as they leave for the weekend. Most don’t even take a moments' pause to hear and appreciate that wonderful sound. Do they not hear it? Perhaps, they take it for granted, as we tend to do with most of our blessings. Apparently, they don’t realize the significance of that modest tone. And significant it is!
Two days of relaxation, play and whatever you want to do. It symbolizes freedom, independence and mental tranquility. That beep means that your “punch has been accepted�! It’s your early parole for good behavior! It’s your free ticket out of the world of copiers, computers, deadlines and unreasonable demands. Ahh yes, a much- needed respite from annoying buzzwords and phrases, cafeteria food and “needy� people. You’re now free to think “with-in the box� if you so choose. And above all, two days without the mind-numbing, self-promoting, senseless babble from that manager, I like to call, “Captain Oblivious�! I’m tearing up with joy!

So please, next time you clock, punch or swipe out of work on a Friday afternoon, take a brief moment to hear that melodious little beep, appreciate the quality of it’s tone and enjoy all it has to offer!
