Well, after quite a few months of some serious surfing and applications, I have finally obtained some regular paying writing gigs! Yippee! I'm so pleased. I'm a stay at home mother you see and I was feeling a bit useless not being able to contribute financially to the family. I have a good head on my shoulders and, without trying to blow my own trumpet too loudly, I'm a pretty smart chick! So discussing the ins and outs of how to do the dishes and the like is not exactly my cup of tea, if you catch my drift! So I'm now writing articles on my new favourite subject: babies and good parenting! I've also submitted a couple of articles I wrote to a new publication in the states, with the real possibility of regular work. The pay for that one is nothing right now as they've only just started up, but my view on it is once they get bigger and start seeing some profits, I'll be paid. Plus they said they'd start compensating for as many articles as they could when they started seeing some revenue. Cool! I know the only reason I've got to this point is through sheer persistence. Of course, I am pretty good at whipping up a good article or three now and then, too! So here's my advice for any budding writers out there who have what it takes but can't get the gigs: stick at it! You will get there eventually! :)
