Still Looking for a New Car

I am still trying to figure out this whole minivan vs. SUV thing. Right now I am driving a 2000 Chevy Suburban. It holds all six of us comfortably, and we can even transport a couple extra people if we need to. My husband drives a 1997 Ford Taurus stationwagon. It only holds five people comfortably, but we have squished three of us in the front seat when absolutely necessary. Both of our vehicles have over 130,000 miles each. One day soon, we will be in need of a new car. My husband is in favor of just continuing to pour money into these two cars and pumping loads of gasoline in them and sucking up the cost. I am in favor of getting rid of at least one of the cars and getting something (probably a minivan) that gets better gas mileage and is newer and safer. I keep doing research and have found, as much as I hate to admit it, that the Kia Sedona minivan might be the safest, most economical vehicle for us. I never thought too much of the Korean car company, but it sounds like they make a pretty decent car that is both affordable to purchase and affordable to run. I don't know anyone who has one, so I am only going on what a few review articles have said. So for now, I am just biding my time. It won't be too much longer before one of our current cars is going to need another expensive repair job and my husband will finally realize that dumping money into old vehilces is just a waste. When that happens, I will have done my homework, and we will be able to agree on something without a whole lot of arguement. I would be interested to know if anyone out there reading this knows anything about the Kia line of cars.
