It's relatively early in the morning for people on the West, but I been up a while and I’m ready. I worked out, took a shower, and now I am cooking a breakfast fit for champions. The reason that I am oh so excited ought to be obvious. The NFL Draft will kick off in mere moments. This day is sandwiched in somewhere between Christmas and Thanksgiving on my list of greatest days on the calendar. With Thanksgiving taking the cake. This day is better than Christmas because I get to see how my team will help improve their chances at winning a record sixth Super Bowl title. Christmas just involves a lot of complaining. The draft is in New York so we'll get to see the unruly New York fans boo everything. Oh, let me tell you guys what’s on the breakfast menu. We got strawberry pancakes, homemade egg mcmuffins, omelets of your choice, watermelon slices, orange juice mimosas, and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Feel free to stop by if you're in the area. "It's a celebration bitches." I will be updating you guys all day on what is going on with the draft. Many of you may be thinking to yourselves, but Champ we don't care about the NFL Draft. Hey. Simmer down. This is what I do. Here’s the deal:

NBA PLayoffs: 6-6-2 record
new jersey(-2) over INDIANA
MEMPHIS(+1) over dallas
MILWAUKEE(+6) over detroit
clippers(+3.5) over DENVER

MLB:
astros over REDS-Reds are for real, but taking the Stros
nats over REDS
CUBS over beer makers
diamondbacks over GIANTS
rockies over MARLINS
PHILLIES over pirates
DODGERS over friars
TIGERS over twins
YANKS over blue jays-LOCK

ROYALS over athletics

I told you the top two picks

I told you the top two picks would just be switched around.

What was she thinking?

Mary Anne is on her way to my house and she asked if I wanted to meet her downstairs so we could get something to eat. She knows the draft is going on, she knows that by the time she gets here either of my two favorite teams will be on the clock. Why would she ask me this? I'm already regretting the decision to extend the invitation to watch the draft.

picks 1 through 3

1. HOUSTON selects MARIO WILLIAMS-DE-NORTH CAROLINA STATE:
So we all knew about this from last night, but it was unexpected when it happened. Like I was saying yesterday, opposing quarterbacks averaged a 100 qb rating when playing the Texans. A player like Reggie Bush only comes around once every 80 years or so, so it is difficult for me to agree with this, but I will try. You need defense to win in the NFL. Period. THis guy will vastly improve the Texans defense and everyone else on the defense. People from Houston may boo now, but they will cheer later

2. NEW ORLEANS selects REGGIE BUSH-RB/WR/KR-U OF SOUTHERN CAL:
I do not agree with this pick. The Saints already have an all world running back in DUce McAllister. I think my boy Weezy is not giving enough credit to big Duce. Duce is a top 5 running back in the league. I heard the basketball analaogy, that you dont pass on LeBron James. But, to me, you dont take LeBron James if you have Tracy McGrady and you got many other pressing needs.

3. TENN selects VINCE YOUNG-QB-TEXAS:
So I disected Vince Young's ailities yesterday. I think this is a better pick than taking Matt Leinart because of the system and the type of quarterback that is already in place in Tennessee with Steve Air McNair. With that said I dont think Vince will play for another 3 to 4 years becayse my boy McNair will be an all pro calliber quarterback for the next 3 to 4 years. So, if a quarterback will not be ready for the next 3 to 4 years, you do not take him with the number 3 pick.

Yea man you messed up good.

Yea man you messed up good. When a girl watches the draft with you it just involves a lot of complaining. You got to give her some alcohol quickly so she will chill. Last year I was in the damned mall during the draft. you were giving me updates. That should have been a lesson to you.

Leinart

Where does Leinart land? Oakland or Arizona?

My inside info was right on and don't worry a 18 pack will be opened the moment the doorbell rings.

James Champion's picture

oakland has to take him.

oakland has to take him. they need a quarterback and he gets to stay in LA

The Raaaiiiders

Even though they just signed Aaron Brooks?

picks 4-6

4. NY JETS selects D'BRICKISHAW FERGUSON-OT-VIRGINIA:
This is a good football pick. This feels a preesing need for the Jets. I keep hearing that Matt Leinart is a great PR pick. WTF? Do we want PR or SBs? The Jets have Chad Pennington(noodle arms) and they traded for Patrick Ramsey this off season so they don't need a qb.

5. GREEN BAY selects AJ HAWK-LB-the OHIO STATE:
Good pick. Best LB in the draft and with the recent signing of Charles Woodson the Pack should be much improved on defense. Although I think they're defense was decent when I watched them.

6. SAN FRANCISCO selects VERNON DAVIS-TE-MARYLAND:
Awesome physical specimen. He fits the mold of these huge fast tight Ends, Great pick for a young quarterback.

Nothig Unusual so far.

James Champion's picture

o yea they;re not expecting

o yea they;re not expecting Aaron Brroks to savethe franchise, but he is a nice player. and he can start until Leinart is ready. He syill give them a chance to win until Leinart ready.

James Champion's picture

picks 7-9

7. RAIDERS select MICHEAL HUFF-S-TEXAS:
2nd Texas player picked in top 10. This is what I am talking about. This was unexpected and this mixes things up alot. I expected the Raiders to take Leinart. I saw the Raiders play Chargers on SUnday Nite football and they got abused. I won money on that game so maybe this is a good pick. This guy is supposedly very versatile and can play all positions in defensive backfield.

8. BUFFALO selects DONTE WHITNER-S-OHIO STATE:
2nd ohio state player in the top 10. Dont know much about him, but he played on one the top defenses in the nation last year. Ohio state produces good defensive players. I think they need offense, but maybe no one availabe.

9. DETROIT selects ERNIE SIMMS-LB-FLORIDA STATE:
Dont know much about this guy, but they wanted to go defense. They wanted Huff, but Raiders snatched him up so this must have been their seond rated player on their board. Lions have a decent defense so this helps.

Draft update

Okay so cooking and texting people about the draft and drinking mimosasa would not allow me to constantly update the draft, but I will give you my opinion on a few things.

First: The Broncos took Jay Cutler-qb-Vanderbilt with the 11th pick. And not only that, they traded up to do so. They have a pro bowl quarterback named Jake Plummer who took the team to the AFC championship game so I don't know how I feel about that pick. There are more pressing needs like maybe a receiver or tight end or something, but a quarterback. I don;t know if Jake will take you to a Super Bowl, but there are a lot of quarterbacks that wont win super bowls and good ones at that.

Second: So my Cowboys took Bobby Carpenter-LB-Ohio State with the 18th pick. I think we wanted Jason Allen-DB-Tennessee but he was snatched up a few picks earlier. We still need a safety to cover the deep middle, but I like this pick. Our linebackers are kind of week especially because Dat Nguyen is supposed to retire. Dat is the first and only Vietnamese player to play in the NFL.

This just in: Giants traded the 25th pick to Steelers and the Steelers selected Santonio Holmes-WR-Ohio State. This is an Ohio State first round. This pick helps keep the Steelers at the top of their game. They lost Atwawan Randle-El to free agency. Holmes also returns punts, which Randel-El also did.

Cookin in the Crib

Yea I do the cooking. My goal is to own 3 or 4 restaurants. But yea we had sausage egg and cheese muffins and bacon egg and cheese muffins. We had E & J and coke. No rum, but that could have been arranged. I'm sure you'll be able to come next time.

I think I am a decent cook. I want to have a cooking show called Cooking in the Crib. It will be slightly ghetto, but nothing gratuitous. I am not going to act ghetto for the sake of being ghetto, but because I do not have access to saffron and truffles, etc. You can be one of my guests.

That's Sweet!

I will be on your show 4-sure! I like the ghetto cooking idea. You could do like "high class meals on a low class budget" - like make stuff from Ramen Noodles, left overs, etc. That would be sweet. You're right, not everybody has access to truffles and all that expensive stuff.
Hey, maybe you could even throw some betting into your show, like, "I am putting the sausage into the pan now. There's 3 to 1 odds that I won't burn it." LOL!

haha

I like the idea that realitycheck had with the "high class meals on a low class budget". This would be quite a show! Would be amusing! :P Anyway, I don’t really know if the show would have many episodes, because there is not really much to say about the ghetto cooking.
