I wanted to redeem myself yesterday and I think I did. I didn't give any losing picks at least. We tied on the Mississippi(-3) game. Down 11 with half of the fourth quarter in the books, the Memphis Tigers mounted a touchdown scoring drive with minutes to go. They had to go for the 2 point conversion so as to cut the deficit to 3 points so that a fieldgoal could still tie the game and send it to overtime.

Cutting the deficit to 3 gives us a tie versus the spread. A tie is better than a loss since we lose no money on a tie. But it's still like kissing your sister so we don't like it. I guess this is an appropriate reference considering the game took place in Mississippi.

Unluckily for us, Memphis successfully executed a shovel pass to convert the 2 points. Our only hope now is that Ole Miss can score a fluke touchdown or that Memphis can get the ball back and kick that field goal, making it of course. A made field goal would send the game into OT giving us another chance at covering the spread. At the same time, it gives us another chance at not covering the spread. Of course none of this happened.

The TCU game gave us a bit of a scare as well. The Baylor Bears played tough. The Horned Frogs starting quarterback and winner of 8 straight games he has started was knocked out late in the first half. Insert a red shirt quarterback who had never played a collegiate game. He proceeded to throw a 80 yard touchdown pass. This gave us a 10-7 lead. A late touchdown gave us a 10 point lead and the cover. Nice job by the TCU defense to hold Baylor scoreless for the final 3 quarters.

I neglected to give you the over(59.5) in the Louisville / Kentucky game, but I personally bet on it. The Cardinals scored 59 points on their own so it was an easy cover. An unfortunate incident took place when Louisville starting tailback and Heismann trophy hopeful, Michael Bush, broke is his tibia. He was pronounced done for the season. The Tibia is your chin by the way.

Now that that's out of the way, Here's the deal:

We have a big one on tonight. Florida State at Miami. ESPN will be covering it from all angles on several networks. I am advising that you all take Florida State(+3.5) over MIAMI. This has national title implications even this early in the season. I was going to take Miami giving 3 points at home. I then began to lean towards FSU for some reason. Then the line jumped to 3.5 and I had to take the Seminoles. This game will be decided by 3 points or less. It always is.

stay tuned

I gave you all FSU over Miami tonight. The weekend started off a little bit rocky, but it picked up. I doubled my money this weekend. What more can you ask for. The NFL season kicks off on Thursday. There's also college games on Thursday and Friday nights. I should have a few picks for you to pad your pockets before the weekend's games.
