Sports Betting. Records, football criminals, and I think there was a championship game last night. FREE picks!!!

Baseball | basketball | football | Gambling | Make Money | march madness | sports betting

So I think I have this betting on baseball thing figured out. It’s simple. Bet on the team that’s supposed to win. Doing that would have resulted in an 11-1 record. I did not and I went 9-3 instead. Every team that was supposed to win, according to the odds makers, won except for the Rockies who I am proud to say I picked. It did not matter if these teams were home or away. I tried to mix up my picks a little and take a few underdogs, but no dice. I say I think I figured this out mostly because obviously, at least I think obviously, this trend can not hold true over the course of time. The other reason I say this is because I made one pick that perhaps I would wager actual money on. I could have made any of about 20 picks, but I chose the under in the Cubs/Reds game. Well, it was the highest scoring game of the day with the Cubs scoring 16 runs for the second consecutive opening day. On the bright side my Mets won and Tom Glavine picked up his 276th career victory. Philadelphia Philly, Jimmy Rollins banged a double down the right field line in his last at bat to extend his hitting streak to 37 games over the course of 2 seasons. Joe Dimaggio owns the record 56 game hitting streak. If J-Roll were to catch the Splendid Splitter I may be inclined to say that it is tougher feat because it took place over the course of two seasons.

On another note I read some disturbing news about my favorite quarterback Steve McNair. Apparently he was told to leave Titans facilities by a trainer of all people because his contractual issues have yet to be resolved. McNair’s 2006 salary will be at a cost of $24M against the salary cap to Tennessee. The reason for this is that McNair has deferred so much of his salary over the years in an effort to help the team. Steve McNair is the toughest quarterback in the league. Without him where would that franchise be? I hear all this talk about how Brett Favre deserves this and that and Steve McNair gets treated like this. Yea I hope thy cut him and draft Matt Leinart. That would be smart. As you can tell I have strong feelings about this. The only quarterback I might take over him is Tom Brady. Speaking of quarterbacks all charges were dropped against Daunte Culpepper relating to the “Love Boat scandal. Good for him. Speaking of football players facing possible jail time. Redskins safety, Sean Taylor, declined to take a plea bargain in an assault case that could result in a 46 year sentence if he found guilty on all charges.

There was a thing called the NCAA championship game on last night. Many of you may have not recognized it as being a championship game, but they tell me it was. What a let down. After a great tournament the final four sucked. A lot of NBA games today. All but four teams are playing. There is always a lot of baseball so we got a lot to talk about. Here’s the deal:

Re: Sean Taylor

I am not sure of the details of the incident, but he is facing 3 aggravated assault charges and 1 misdemeanor battery charge stemming from an incident that occurred even before last year's season started I believe. The assault charges carry a minimum of a 3 year sentence and the max of 15 years. You might not know who he is. This year will be his third year in the league. He signed a 7 year $18M contract upon entering getting drafted in 2004.

Wow

That's crazy! Do you ever wonder why somebody who truly has the world in their hands throws it away like that?

I might not phrase it as him

I might not phrase it as him choosing to throw away his life. Some of these guys are from bad neighborhoods and they do not change who they are once they get in the limelight though it may be to their benefit to do so. From what I understand the incident stemmed from an argument. A simple argument can escalate really quickly and even end in gun shots. Maybe if he is not rich and famous, no charges are pressed. Maybe the guy tries to get him back when he sees him around. These guys now become targets. Ken Hamlin, a safety for the Seattle Seahawks, got into an altercation during last season which resulted in him taking a street sign off the dome. He was in bad condition at first and he ended up missing the rest of theseason. I am not sure what happened to the guy. I guess it's all about maturity.

You're right

It is a maturity issue. Sometimes fame can make people feel "above the law" too.

Pistons won tonight- Yippie!
