I apologize for not giving you the college picks earlier today. Due to some incompetence on the part of my banking institution I do not have the funds available to make any bets. As a result I considered not giving pro picks either. But I could not let you all down. I have to admit that there is not very much research going into these picks because there is no money on the line. However I need less research to pick pro games so I am going to go for it. What makes it even tougher is the lines are pretty big. There are a lot of 10 plus point lines especially this early in the season. By the way I am going to try to refrain from making picks on games that invlove the Cowboys since they are my favorite team. I hope everybody had a nice weekend. Here's the deal:

BALTIMORE(-12.5) over oakland: The Raiders are terrible. Terrible teams are really terrible on the road. The Ravens should win by 3 touchdowns.

INDY(-13.5) over houston: I am almost leaning towards the Texans because although they never beat the Colts, they don't normally get blown out really bad. They get blown out as much as you might expect the Texans to get blown out to the Colts by. I expect a close call. 14-17 points will decide this one.

cleveland(+10.5) over CINCY: I think the browns figured out a few things in the second half last week. I know the Bengals held down the KC offense last week, but i expect Cleveland to move the ball a bit and they have a better defense than the cheifs.

buffalo(+6) over MIAMI: I think the the Bills will be able to run the ball on Miami and I think they have a pretty good defense. Let's just hope JP Losman doesn't make too many mmistakes. I expect a 17-13 type game.

lions(+8) over CHICAGO: I know Roy Williams gave the bears bulletin board material, but they do have a pretty good defense. They held the high powered Seahawk offense to 9 points. They still have Mike Martz running that offense. 8 might not be enough. A 9 point line probably is the magic number, but we'll see what happens.

MINNESOTA(-1) over carolina: No Steve Smith. No Dan Morgan. The Vikes are much improved on defense and Brad Johnson can get some things done at the quarterback position. If Steve Smith plays look out because this pick and the line could change.

GIANTS(+3) over eagles: I think the Giants are simply a better team and they're coming off of a loss.

tampa(+5) over ATLANTA: I am picking a lot of road dogs. I do not like 5 point lines for some reason. It's such an odd number to have football game decided by. These teams played very close games last year. You know John Gruden was not happy about what happened last week.

new orleans(+2.5) over GREEN BAY: I picked the Pack last week. Favre's heart is just not in it. The Pack are not very good. I think the Saints are young and hungry.

rams(-3) over NINERS: Alex Smith and the boys played well last week, but the Rams have Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, Stephen Jackson, Marc Bulger, and a new attitude on both sides of the ball.

cardinals(+7) over SEATTLE: I am thinking that the closeness of the SF/AZ game was a little misleading last week. Something is telling me to go with the 'Hawks given the home crowd, but I am expecting a competitive game. This is sort of a statement game for the Cards.

JETS(+6) over pats: I think that the Pats might win, but they are weak in a few areas. The only reason they're as good as they are is because of Tom Brady. The Pats are not a blow out team either. The Jets will keep it close.

CHARGERS(-12) over titans: Titans are not very good. The Chargers are very good. The only thing is that we still don't know a whole lot about Philip Rivers. It's early in the season. Not much I can do about that.

BRONCOS(-11) over chiefs: KC will pound the rock with Larry Johnson, but at some point they will need some plays out of the passing game. The KC recievers are not impressive and now they don't have the luxury of a very accurate Trent Green.
