Speechless
In days approaching my wedding I was becoming more and more aware that at some point I would have to stand up in front of all our guests and have something witty and clever to say to them all. I thought I could handle it. In fact I was more worried about others in my wedding party stumbling. I had a few ideas about what I would say, but foolishly, I didn't write anything down. I figured I could wing it. No problem, right? WRONG!
My Dad got up and he practically had everyone in tears with his soulful recollections and expressions of pride. My best man gets up to the podium and moments latter he has the entire banquet hall filled with laughter stemming from his clever telling of childhood reminiscence.
My turn and right up until I got to the podium, I was confident and prepared. I turn towards my guests and was greeted with a sea of faces and my mind emptied like a someone had pulled a cork. Needless to say, it was a very awkward and embarrassing experience.
Don't let this happen to you. Be prepared.
