Somebody Loves Me!!!!!!

My 20 month old son is a very active and rambunctious child. He has been walking since the day he turned 10 months old, running, jumping and climbing pretty much non-stop ever since then. And although he is generally a very rough and tumble little guy, I must say he is the most affectionate child I have ever met. He is always loving on his stuffed animals and the babydoll I bought him for Christmas. He loves to softly pat his cats and gently play with other toddler's hair. And he hugs, hugs hugs....

But what really takes the cake is that for the past three weeks he has been running up to me or my husband at random and giving us big hugs and saying "uv oooo" (love you) which has to be the most beautiful thing a parent can experience. Last night after his bath he grabbed my face with his chubby little hands and looked into my eyes then gave me a big kiss on my nose before saying "ove ooo". I melted instantly. He has been hugging and kissing us from very early on, but this newfound enthusiasm and earnestness every time he shows us affection, and his little voice when he says that he loves us is beyond words...My baby is growing up! And he is growing up to be so full of love!

I am going to soak this all in before he becomes a teenager and starts slamming his bedroom door in my face......*sigh* Or maybe he'll always think I am just a super cool and great mom and not be embarrased to give me hugs & kisses when he's older. Then again, when I was in High School I would make my dad drop me off a few blocks away from school because I was so embarrased by the rusty old bucket he used to drive.....and you know what they say about payback! LOL! So, yeah, I am gonna soak this love in as much as I can for as long as I can.......

He WILL be asking for the car keys next week. Five days after he learns the power he gains when he masters the word "No". Trust me on this.

Meantime, enjoy. :)

i have no doubt about that! :-) and he can already say "no", but he prefers to shake his head and shut his eyes very tightly as if this means that if he cant see the food, potty, etc. in front of him, then it doesnt exist. but i just know that the very loud "NONONONONONO's" are just around the corner......

I have a 2 year old also - I came home from the store last night and while I still had bags in my hands - he ran down the hall yelling MOMMY!! and hugged my leg. It was so cute. When I walk at night with my girlfriend - I come back and his face is red from crying. I love that he loves me that much. You don't know that kind of love until you become and mother (or father). The greatest gift in the world!
