So, I'm sure you,ve read the news, but here is a brief summery:

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Two U.S. soldiers who went missing after an attack on their checkpoint have been found dead and were tortured before being killed, an Iraqi defense official said on Tuesday.
U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad Major General William Caldwell refused to confirm or deny the report, saying the military would not make any announcement before next of kin were informed.
Iraqi Defense Ministry official Major General Abdul Aziz Mohammed told Reuters the bodies of Privates Thomas Lowell Tucker, 25, and Kristian Menchaca, 23, were found by a joint U.S.-Iraqi force on Monday near an electricity plant in Yusufiya, the area in which they were abducted on Friday.

He said the bodies showed signs of "barbaric torture".

"The bodies of usArmy Pfc. Kristian Menchaca, 23, of Houston, and Army Pfc. Thomas Lowell Tucker, 25, of Madras, Ore., were found on a street near a power plant in the town of Youssifiyah, just south of Baghdad. "

THEY WERE

THEY WERE JUST KIDS....THIS WAR MAKES ME SICK TO THE VERY CORE OF MY HEART. SO MANY BEAUTIFUL AMERICAN KIDS KILLED FOR WHAT? SO THAT OIL COMPANIES WILL KEEP MAKING RECORD PROFITS?

Why?

It's been a difficult few days.
My answer to your comment may tend to brighten things up, but actually, not so much.
Why the war?

APRES LE GUERRE

Oddly, I really mean every word of this article. I'm naming it in recollection of Paul Simon, who wrote a song about the French Artist, Rene Magritte, and his wife, Georgette, and their dog, "Apres Le guerre", that's, "after the war".

Some mornings, the whole thing just comes together.
Since long before the war began, many people have said it was "for oil". But, I just couldn't see it. Now, I see it!
When the Arab Nations razed the World trade center, it was a protest against the U.S. and Her allies in their refusal to negotiate in good faith over oil prices. They felt they were being gouged. And they felt we (the allies) had trespassed onto their property when we built up Kuwait, which we did for the oil.
The Arab/Muslim Nations are sometimes slow to react; like several generations. That's why they attacked the World Trade center. I just happen to know that.

I failed to understand, when Bush wreaked havoc in Iraq, he didn't do it for Halliburton. That was incidental. He just threw a little business their way. What are friends for?
As to the loss of life, on both sides, well sometimes a president has to make hard decisions. It a thankless job. Someone has to do it.
Here it is! Now, when we negotiate with Iraq, we are negotiating with our pals. people we can talk to. The ones we put there. No more painful haggling, no more histrionics; smooth and easy. One thing about George, he HATES to negotiate!

OK, the prices won't change much. We have to be fair and equittable after all. Life goes on. But at least we won't have to endure that Arab mis-demeanor.

Mission accomplished!

Tell that to

Tell that to the families of the two kids who were barbarically murdered. I know they were soldiers but soldiers should be protecting us and not sent for years to some barbarian land in which we REALLY didn't need to stick our nose in their business. I understoon Sr.'s attack on Iaq...Iraq invaded Kuwait although I am not too sure that was any of our business either. Sometimes I think if we used our military to shore up our borders instead of policing the entire world we would be a whole lot better off.

apology

I'm very sorry, Ms Zola, for my seeming lack of compassion, yesterday, when I published a rather lite remark, after my article about the missing soldiers.
i had worked on that article for some time. the picture of the second young man was hard to locate.
As I was traveling home, I realized my callousness.
Again, I apolgize.
