Sicky Sick Sicko

ModelMom's picture

I'm sick. I went from having a head cold to getting either food poisoning or the stomach bug and now I have a chest cold that has hit me like a ton of bricks. And believe me, if I weren't gestating I would sure as hell be downing the TheraFlu. No meds for me, so I am a miserable wretch and feel very sorry for my hubby, since he has to put up with me and "me" pregnant is bad enough.

I never got sick when I was pregnant with my son, so this is one hell of an awesome new experience. As a matter of fact, I rarely ever get sick, but Portland is a freaking humid & cold hotbed of pestilence. I can't blame getting sick on the fact that I have a toddler either since he only gets a little cough or the sniffles if anything with no actual snotty noses that last for 2 days tops. When it hits me, I am out of commission for over a week. But then again, I make sure the child gets super food quality nutrition 95% of the time but am not so good about that for myself. When will I ever learn? But, it's just that pumpkin & tofu mash sounds so awful to me........and for some reason he is willing to eat whatever I give him (we do have food boycotts from his end several times a month though...a la typical toddler).

I would really kill for some drugs right now.

Ok, let this fall under the category of "things women forgot to tell other women"...

I can't remember if your son goes to daycare, but if he doesn't, that first year of school will be miserable. It's one plague symptom after another, and it will spread to the entire family. I think it's because they haven't gotten all the other minor little sniffles that every other kid has already experienced, so they are bringing home the major yuckiness.

Try some white tea. It has considerably less caffeine than other teas, and lots of good stuff in it. There have been certain studies which suggest that they can kill bacteria and viruses. (Not to mention, it's really yummy.)

thanks for the tip intricate! i have read a lot about the amazing properties of white tea but just havent actually gotten any....looks like now is the right time! and my son isnt in preschool yet, so i can only imagine that what we are going through is just the tip of the iceberg. ugh. i do take him to an indoor playgym three times a week which is where i know he has picked up all the awesome stuff that inevitably gets passed on to yours truly! :-P
