Should the Sexually Abused be charged with RAPE?

The amount of reported Rapes is a growing by the year. Courts across the United States are flooded with cases involving sexual predators, petafiles and rapists. Everyone from NBA players to priests to school teachers and laywers themselves have been accused of rape.

Prior to 1999 there was only one way to claim a person didn't committ rape - say it wasn't them. Jenny Carter, a lawyer from WA says, "To prove your clients innocence you simply had to prove that they were not at the location or disprove the witnesses credibility."
However, in the past 6 years a new scapegoat has come to town. This "Crime and Cover up" is labeled 'Sexual Abuse'. Rapists that have been found 100% guilty are now claiming Sexual Abuse as their reason for committing the crime.

Jenny Carter adds her opinion to this topic, "I have represented three victims of rape in the past two years. Two out of the three defendants were given a slap on the wrist and therapy while my victims were left to cope with the devistating after effects of this crime. The reasoning for the defendants not getting jail time was that, as children, they had been sexually abused by adults and felt that it was OK to act in this mannor. One of my clients had been tied down to a bed and raped for 18 hours straight. She may suffer permenant wounds and she has scars...But since this man was abused himself it makes everything all right in the courts eyes. Well I am here to say, It doesn't make it right."

A man charged with the rape of two teenage girls in RI had use the same reasoning as the other defendants. He says, "I did not want to rape those girls. When I was younger my babysitter used to force me to do things that I did not want to do. For 5 years I kept quiet about it. Finally I decided to tell my parents and they didn't believe me. I began to think that this was Ok and that as long as it is a secret..." later he added, "I know I need help. I want to do the right thing. I don't think people should be considered rapists when they know no other ways."
