Not sure if y'all heard about this one or not, but Sharon Stone, one time major league hot stuff actress, recently put her foot in, deep, and multiple times, while hosting a fund raiser for AFAR.

She started outside, while being interviewed by Chinese journalists (not quite sure why), and she said that maybe it was karma that thrust this earthquake against their country because of their treatment of the Tibetians, especially her "friend" the Dalia Lama. They tried to get her to clarify her statement, and she stupidly repeated it.

Then, inside, while working the room for more funds, at one point she goes over to P Diddy, sits on his lap, and tries to get $360,000 out of him for something; not quite sure what. He says he doesn't have it, and she says "What'd you spend all your money on, crack?"

Of course, I'm leaving out all the F-bombs she was liberally throwing around, which certainly didn't help matters much. I was stunned when I heard the tape and saw her antics. I'm sure she thought she was being funny, but wow. You just don't go around throwing natural disasters at a whole group of people, just because you disagree with their government, and say stuff like that.

And yet, even with all of that, she helped AFAR raise $10 million; frankly, I'm not sure that gets her off the hook for her behavior. Oh, and unlike other celebrities who make stupid statements, she's yet to apologize for any of it, deciding to remain silent, but her people are saying she probably won't have any comment whatsoever on her China statements. That's like saying "and I meant it too!"

Hmmm,... I'm still thinking she probably needs to be slapped for saying it, and I know the Dalai Lama would never approve, but it will be interesting to see how all of this falls out later on.
