Settling In

adjustment | moving | small town | Virginia

We have finally completed our move from Indiana to Virginia. It was a pretty traumatic event, but we are all here and all of our things are with us and we have a nice, new, big house to get used to. We currently do not have television or telephone access and our brand new Sprint cell phones don't work out here. I had been feeling very isolated until yesterday when our internet service was started up. There is not a whole lot to do here in Purcellville, VA. There is no movie theater and no large stores, so my youngest and I have visited the little shops "downtown" at least two times each since we have been here. Living here will be quite an adjustment. I was so accustomed to being relatively close to everything I needed; not so here. I don't even know where the nearest hospital is and all of the major shopping areas are at least a twenty minute drive without traffic. If it is during a rush hour, forget it! Needless to say, I am anxious for DirectTV to be installed. At least then I will feel a little more in touch with the real world.

sounds like your out there-no pun intended

I love the thought of living away from all the fast paced city life, but then you do have to adjust to it all. I actually have never heard of purcellville, VA. What is the closest bigger city for shopping?
I just love small town everything.
