Second week of pregnancy!

My search takes me to a variety of information. I found a couple of places that tell me the exact changes that will be happening in my body week by week, and I have just discovered, that if I get pregnant, by pregnancy will be counted from conception. This means, that if I get pregnant, I'm already in my second week. The very thought fills me with awe! Am I really worthy of this, without having done a thing yet?

I guess only hindsight will tell.

Anyway, this is what is supposed to be happening along the body changes and pregnancy line of thought according to this site mixed with stuff from others too.

Highlights of the first week (which I've already completed)

Your period has just started and you may be thinking about conception.

True.

For women with a 28 day cycle, ovulation occurs around 14 days after the start of your menstrual cycle.

Yeah. i found out that much.

Now is a good time to begin healthy habits (if you haven't yet!). Start your pregnancy diet with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables; exercise; start taking additional folic acid if you haven't already; and stop smoking, drinking alcohol, and using over-the-counter medications. Stay away from toxic materials and rest well. Start "thinking pregnant" before you conceive so you can give your baby the best start possible.

Hmmmm........ I'm ok on the fruit front, absolutely healthy, though I don't really know the nutrients in what I eat. I might want to explore that later. The smoking and drinking is out already (though it does get tempting at times). This should keep me off.

I wonder what's the verdict on exercise and exertion. I lead a pretty hectic life, though its nothing out of the ordinary for me and easily doable.

Toxic materials...... no clue on that. I don't particularly use anything particualrly toxic at home, except for mosquito repellent, which should be ok I guess. I guess its preferrable to the mosquitoes. i can't sleep with soemthing biting me. I'll check to see if its harmful.

A google on this brought me information on cleaning agents and stuff. I use plain soap and water most of the time, so I don't think there's anything on those lines, but if there is anyone from India, who might have an idea on the hazardous substances in a traditional Indian household, do let me know. I'd like to get rid of them, or at least find out what they are and what are the risks.

Heh. This time next year, I'll already have delivered, and the baby will be 16 weeks old! What a year this is going to be, if it goes as planned.

Moving on to this week of the pregnancy:

Your uterus has shed its lining through your period and is now preparing a lush new bed of blood-rich tissue designed to house a growing fetus. Your eggs are ripening in one of the ovaries and preparing to release one.

Good to know that action is happening on the plan, even while I'm not aware of doing anything.

Multiples: What! I hadn't even thought of this.

Same as for singletons except that in the case of fraternal twins, your ovaries will release two eggs (or 3 in the case of fraternal triplets, etc.)

Hmmm..... ok. Too much is up in the air at the moment.

Ideas for Dad:
Okay Dad, on day 14, if Mom has a regular 28-day cycle, (counting from the first day of Mom's last period) which should be the end of this week, you know what to do! Enjoy, but remember, your involvement is needed throughout the pregnancy, not just for conception.

Are you listening, munni ke papa (kid's father)? - as they shyly refer to husband's in India.

*blush*
